Mass Effect Revalation
Again, I said ‘Novel’. Ahem.

While I’m sure the success of Mass Effect has no doubt placed Bioware in a position to give the green light for a sequel (decisions, decisions…), it looks like the Mass Effect novel preluding the game will be getting a sequel first, thus providing the next link in the chain. Bioware has sent word:

Del-Rey Books and author Drew Karpyshyn have announced the title of the second volume in the Mass Effect series of novels: Mass Effect: Ascension. Set between the first and second game, the novel will arrive in Summer 2008.

Mass Effect: Revelation (pictured right), written by Bioware’s renown writer/author Drew Karpyshyn, debuted back in May 2007 and was essentially a prequel to the Mass Effect game. The game’s success seems to have spurred sales of the novel as, according to Drew’s latest website update, the novel will be entering its 5th printing.

Not bad for a novel that isn’t tapping into the pocket change of a billion Star Wars fans.
