Mass Effect Hitting PCs in May

Given the absurdly long period of time between releases of the Halo games on Xbox and on PC, I wasn’t expecting Mass Effect till we had a new president, at the very least. But today we’ve gotten word that Mass Effect is coming to PC this May.
The game has been optimized for PC, with a new, fully customizable control scheme which will allow you to hot key biotic powers so you can avoid those pesky menus. Between the ability to hot key and higher res visuals, I’m almost sold. There’s also a new decryption mini-game and an “enhanced inventory screen” with a new GUI which hopefully means the absolutely horrendous equipment screens won’t be such a mess anymore.
It seems strange that there’s no mention of Games for Windows, achievements, or any of that stuff – makes me wonder what the future of that GFW Live platform is.
So, PC gamers: are you going to be trying out Mass Effect now that it’s headed to PC?

Probably
yup
Horrendous equipment screen? Sure, it could’ve been done better, but it wasn’t horrendous. Daunting upon first use, easy after that. The only thing I’d have liked would have been to have seen all mods for armour/weapons in one long list to see what I could turn into omni-gel rather than sell for stupidly low prices.
Man, i’ve been dying to play this since it was first announced… but alas i have no 360. So this is a godsend for me.
The awesomeness of Bioware strikes again!
I absolutely would call it horrendous. It was such a mess to navigate through your items; there was no way to organize it and the way it was laid out made it a real pain to actually equip your guys.
I will.

I’ll be checking this out.
I got the 360 version, but if theres mods…..
Heck yeah! They kept saying it would never come out for PC so we would all go buy consoles.
Thanks
I refuse to ever pay to play my PC games online unless it’s an MMO. GFW Live can eat my shorts.
With that said. Fuck yeah I’ll play Mass Effect.
YAY! Half an alien tit on pc!

Yes!! Oh, God, yes!! It’s coming in May? The hell with examas, college can wait.
Wow already played teh shit out of it , so it’ll have a new gui and some sharper graphics who cares lulz
The female uniforms in this game are quite sexy.
I wonder which artist creates this king of graphics for an action game.
FUCK YES, i am actually surprised this will get released to the PC, and so soon! Now, if only GTA4 comes soon…
I hope to god they don’t add games for windows.
If one thing can ruin a game that is it.
Screwed gow and kane and lynch for pc up hard.
So the time required to port any game to the PC is based on the timeframe Microsoft chose to port Halo over? Does EVERYTHING revolve around Halo in the eyes of a console gamer? Sure seems like it.
For PC?! Why didn’t they do that in the first place? I would definitely have bought it, but now I’m playing through it on a friend’s console instead as I thought it wouldn’t come for PC.
And yes, the equipment screen really needs an overhaul usability-wise. Really hard to get an overview when you have a lot of items in there…
I look forward to pirating this soon.
I’ve finished the game three times, and was planning on finishing it at least two more times to try out different job combos. I’m most likely getting this for PC as well, but I *really* hope they make it possible to transfer characters from Xbox360 accounts to the PC game version…
I wonder what the specs are on this…
Wait…this is the one with 3 seconds of side-boob, right? Oh I am so going to pick this up.
Depends on the specs. The PC game market is so dry these days, taken over by the console market, that I’m not going to let games dictate my hardware anymore. I don’t care if I’m left playing Oblivion for the next three years, frankly, I’m not buying a new computer just for the games again.
I refuse to buy an xbox – if Halo couldn’t make me do it, then nothing will. I hate the fact that I’l have to wait 14,000 years for halo 3 to come to Windows, but I’ll deal with it.
However, I’m very glad to hear Mass Effect is getting ported so quickly. I salute the developers.
yup
Adamblast: Have you played audiosurf yet? its a nice cheap little music game, but it seriously has been keeping me entertained when there is nothing else to play.
