marvelnemesis1 Marvel and EA Cancel Fighting GameSad news, comic and gaming fans (or good news if you ever suffered through Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects). Looks like the upcoming fighting game set in the Marvel universe has been canceled thanks to Marvel and EA ending a deal they penned in 2004. According to a rep for Electronic Arts:

“EA and Marvel have jointly agreed to discontinue development of the Marvel titles under the EA Games Label. This was a business decision based on EA’s portfolio strategy.”

The only thing to come out of this deal thus far was 2005’s Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, a fighting game that failed to appeal to both gaming and comic enthusiasts. Oddly though, Marvel seems rather optimistic about this deal ending, stating that it “will not affect Marvel’s ongoing plans to release fighting games based on the Marvel properties in the future.” We can only hope they turn back to Capcom.

Oh indeed, because…you know…when you want a fighting series beaten to death (pun intended) you give it to Capcom.
