Mario gets a Top Five List

MSNBC recently compiled a list of their Top Five Mario games. It’s an interesting list, though I’m not sure if Donkey Kong is a Mario game so much as a game that happens to have Mario in it. If we went that route, I’d have to add the original Punch-Out to the list. Sure he was only the ref who came out and counted down each fight, but I don’t think the game would’ve had the same impact without him… actually, on second thought it probably wouldn’t change a damn thing. Hell, they could’ve had a monkey come out on a magic carpet to start the fight and I’d probably still only be paying attention to the little word balloons.
