Man Cleaves 6 Year Old Gamer to Death

The blood has been washed away, but a quiet neighborhood remains stunned and shaken today. Sev’n Molina, age 6, was chased down and hacked to death with a meat cleaver while his mother and neighbors struggled to save his life. Calvin Sharp, 27, has been arrested and will be charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
The attack began around 9:30 last night after Sev’n’s mother, Sandra Ruiz, 33, had been arguing with Sharp, among other things, about whether or not Sev’n spent too much time playing video games. The boy dashed out of the apartment and Sharp followed. He caught the boy and began to beat and hack at him with a meat cleaver while yelling “Die, die!”
As Ruiz fought for her son’s life, Sharp turned the cleaver on her cutting her repeatedly and nearly severing her hand.
Neighbors Patrick Bowman, 21, and his girlfriend, Christina Kindred, 18 recalled the scene as they struggled to come to Ruiz’s aid.
“When I tried to grab the kid, that’s when [Sharp] grabbed him and pulled him closer and started flailing that knife like crazy,” Bowman said. “He pulled the kid closer to him and started to beat and hack him with the knife.”
Bowman, driven off by threats of being hacked himself, ran to his apartment to call 911.
“When we ran upstairs, the kid was alive. When we got back out, the kid was dead,” Bowman said Monday. “I feel horrible.”
A brave older woman tackled Sharp knocking the weapon away before he could once again turn the cleaver on the boy’s mother. Despite receiving a severe cut to the head, she held him down with the help of another man.
Ruiz is in critical condition after under going surgery. She remains in intensive care breathing with the help of a ventilator.
Michael Brandon, a cameraman with KCAL-TV Channel 9 and a friend of Ruiz, states he was unsure whether Ruiz and Sharp had been married but she had been living in fear, supposedly of her husband, and had moved to avoid him.
“She was a great lady, a good friend and a wonderful mother,” he said. “Her son was all she had. She won’t want to live after this. This alone will kill her, knowing her son is dead.”

Bringing back death sentences or introducing them back into prisons won’t do anything. We’re born in a society over a thousand years in the making, that same society brings up people like this and makes it possible for them to live amongst normal people. We have to look around us and realize that some people are just not right in the head, those people need help and refuse to seek it.

Wishing violence upon him (even though he deserves it) isn’t the best way to go. That idiot is going to have to go through the rest of his life, knowing that he killed a child over something as trivial as video games.

I work across the street from where this happened and heard people talking that live at that apt. complex. They have stated that Calvin Sharp was smoking “something” 20 minutes before the violence began. I am from the old days when PCP was the drug that would make people lose their minds and gain incredible strength. What the hell was this guy smoking? I haven’t heard of PCP since the 80’s. Whatever he was, or wasn’t on is beside the point. He’s a monster of the worst kind. I hope he will NEVER be release into society.

As much as what Calvin did was sick stating how much you want to hurt him doesn’t help the situation. Violence causes violence. Hate causes hate. War causes war. How do you extinguish a fire? Do you throw a lighter in the fire? Do you fight fire with fire?
No you fight fire with it’s opposite which is water. Violence cannot and will not be stoped with more violence. Thinking such dooms you and society to a vicious circle of hatred and violence. Forgiveness and love extinguishes hate.
I went to High School with Calvin…….He was a good kid back then. It’s Amazing what can happen to a person over a 12 year period. I still can’t believe he did this. CRAZY sh*t!
This may be disgusting and a very horrible story but it has little to do with video games. The father obviously attacked him because of some mental health issue. As for those ranting on about how they’d like to kill the father, justice through the courts is always the best way to deal with murderers. You cannot say that you would like to torture someone because he killed someone. He was not himself, he was so obviously ill.

i too went to high school with him and from what i can remember he was a nice kid, i got chills when i looked up his yearbook photo, he looked so sweet, who knws what happended in the past 11 yeas to make him act this way. he was a cab driver so he SHOULD be being drug tested…but not living on that coast for the last 11 years i have no idea whats been going on, but from what ive been told it hasent been easy for a lot of the people out there, not an excuse to kill, but a reason to look hard at the situation before jumping to conclusions.
Here’s my conclusion. That monster should be put down. We put down a dog who bites a person. Look at what this animal did.
It doesn’t matter what caused that piece of garbage to do it. Cook the creep with a high octane coctail and until then, let all the different ‘ologists’ study the non-human to their hearts content.
But down he should go.
I was a close friend of calvin. Its been about 8 months since the last time i saw him.He was the calm and more down to earth person of the group. he lost contact and i knw it was because of drugs, possibly what made him act in violence. BUT… THIS IS AMERICA… I don’t care if you murder half a million people, like we did, you have the RIGHT to a fair trial. the kid didnt get a fair chance at life. But life’s not fair but our justice system is supposed to be. I am not saying it is right, from the religion point of view, but what is right in this world we live in.
