Majesco Going Casual

A new internal development studio is being formed by Majesco to focus on casual games, as the market continues to evolve and focus more on casual games. Ubisoft made a similar move yesterday, acquiring Petz developer Digital Kids.
Cooking Mama has proven itself to be a viable source of income for Majesco, so this move seems like a natural evolution knowing that and seeing the direction the market is going in.
According to Gamasutra, the new studio will be located in the Los Angeles area. Former Sega Vice President of Development, Bill Petro, will be taking on the role of Majesco VP of internal development, where he will be in charge of building and overseeing studio operations.
Jesse Sutton, Majesco’s interim CEO, said, “We’re excited about the opportunities that will result from this initiative and believe this move will allow us to build the same or better product as we do externally with similar or reduced costs. We also firmly believe that the creation and ownership of intellectual property increases long term shareholder value.”
Cooking Mama 3 confirmed.

Now if only Nintendo started producing Puzzle League for PC, Phones, Other Systems, and even as mini-game and watches….
It’s clear that Casual games are becoming more dominant.
