Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar Executive producer Jeffrey Steefel talks about the differences between MMORPGs In the West and the East. The gameplay style is different. As LotRO gears up for its Korean launch Steefel talks about changes being made in the game in an effort to give it more Eastern appeal.

One of the differences will be more specific instructions on many Quests for Eastern regions. Another area Turbine is seriously looking at is Monster play as LotRO’s only form of PvP. Steefel assures Western gamers that changes in this and other gameplay mechanics will be global.

“Any time that we add anything for any particular region, it’s going to be a part of the overall game,” he said. “Unless we absolutely have to, we’re not going to do anything specific to a particular part of the world.”
