In case you missed it earlier, Sam & Max Season One for Windows is out for public consumption right now. And closely following suit is a PC demo just made available today.

For those living under a rock:

Sam & Max is a comic turned video game following the adventures of Sam, a 6-foot tall anthropomorphic dog detective (say that 6 times fast), and Max, a hyperkinetic rabbit thingy. Sam & Max Season One is a collection of standalone episodic adventure games (6 to be exact) that were originally released through GameTap (much akin to Steam). Each episode is an adventure within itself as Sam and his sidekick Max attempt to solve crimes. However, their crime-solving caper usually ends up blown out of proportion resulting into some crazy shenanigans. Trust me, Scooby Doo ain’t got nothing on these guys.

Sam & Max Season One is the recent collaboration of Steve Purcell and Telltale Games.

The demo itself contains Episode #1 “Culture Shock”. Here is a brief description of that episode: “A group of former child stars, known as the Soda Poppers, are found causing trouble in Sam and Max’s neighborhood.”

I’ve spent about 10 minutes playing the demo so far. Upon launch I could easily tell the demo has very low system requirements (it is a classic adventure game interface after all). I was greeted with a very stylish yet catchy intro. It didn’t take but about a minute before I was actually playing the game (no graphical settings needed to tweak, yay!). I was then sharply greeted with the witty dialogue that is the staple of a Sam & Max game. So far, I like what I’m seeing and hearing. Sam & Max fans should feel at home here.

So hopefully I’ll have time to play through the whole demo (gotta pay the bills today, unfortunately). I can’t tell if the demo has the entire episode or not, but I’m sure some of you will find out before I do. Initial impressions? I don’t think Sam & Max have lost their touch one bit.

If you have a fascination for the weird and insane, or simply are bored of the same ol’ same ol’, you should definitely check out the demo (only weighing in at 70 MB).

Played the Demo and its quite fun but… Using Cheese in a joke isn't funny. It's boring and unoriginal. That Rat and the scriptwriter should be hung out of the window.

Fast download though at only 70MB for a demo.
