Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh my! – It’s Zoo Hospital!

Zoo Hospital is a simulation game for the Nintendo DS from Majesco Entertainment (Bloodrayne, Psychonauts). In Zoo Hospital, your Aunt Lucy is a veterinarian at a world-famous zoo and you get to be her intern for the summer. While at the zoo, you will help treat a variety of exotic animals from around the world as you learn how to read body language, soothe animals, perform thorough examinations, and treat them so they can return to their zoo habitats healthy.

This would be a fantastic game for parents to purchase for their children and it would also be a great way for parents to include themselves in something that the whole family can enjoy. This is also a very educational outlet for children where they can learn about exotic animals and their plights, and hopefully also build on their sense of compassion for living things. In an industry where gamers and gaming companies are sometimes not given a fair shake in the media, games such as Zoo Hospital (to name only one), are proof that gamers of all ages can enjoy different genres and not just ones that give us a sense of living vicariously through wanton acts of violence and horror. There are just as many pleasant, educational, innocent, and benevolent titles out there to sit along side of the Manhunts and the GTAs.
