Thanks to the latest issue of Game Informer, which hit stands today, we get to see the very cool limited edition Ion Premium Drum Set for Rock Band 2 as well as the basic wireless one that comes with the game.

The basic set included in the bundle has had some improvements made to it including metal reinforcements on the foot pedal, velocity sensitive pads which are softer and less noise and expandable slots for cymbals (sold separately).

The Ion Premium Set, however, is one sexy looking beast. Not only do you have the option of playing the yellow, green and blue pads as cymbals but the kit converts into a real electronic drum set – excluding a hi-hat pedal. However, at this point, as Joystiq noted “There is no indication on if you can use the cymbals for songs with long stretches of red notes used for the hi-hat beats (e.g. “Everlong”)”.

The guitar has had some improvements added as well, such as a less squishy strum bar, quieter buttons, and a redesigned color scheme. Hopefully our guys will get their hands on all of the peripherals when they land at E3 next week, so check back with us.

Normally, we do not post pics from or links to magazine scans on Gaming Today, that is why I posted Neil Peart and his room of drums instead. However, since the latest issue of Game Informer is out already, if you want to see the pics of what is inside, you can visit Scorehero where all of this was posted.
