Sony’s video download service isn’t the only new feature the PS3 will be seeing — much like the channels you can download on Wii, Sony is planning on offering the ability to easily get weather and news right from your PlayStation 3. Kaz Hirai announced the new non-game initiatve, known as “Life with PlayStation,” this past week at a news conference, reports GamePro.
“By utilizing the full processing power of the PlayStation 3, ‘Life with PlayStation’ will bring unique content centering on two axis, place and time,” he said. I was unaware it took so much to deliver the weather, but okay. Eventually, there will be more to Life with PlayStation than just the news and weather, though.
“For the primary version the application sticks to the present time but in the future we plan to build a system that can visually present stored photos and movies according to their recorded time and place, allowing users with their friends and family to enjoy the visuals in chronological order,” said Hirai.
There’s no release date at this point, and no solid details to be had. Once again, this might be the sort of thing we’ll be hearing more about at E3.

This isn’t surprising. Within the next year or two, I suspect the PS3 will have attempted to mimic most of the features of the Wii (and the 360). The PS3 is in last place, the Wii is in first, it’s predictable that this would happen. You can’t really blame them.
Now thats kewl. Its kind of starting to become like a Wii but with better hardware in it and we can use usb adapters for mice and keyboards on it for fps
Will it integrate into games like it does on the Wii? Like if it is raining outside your house will it be raining in the game your playing also?
Go Marlins!!!!
