why cant he just use 2 or 3 discs for the game instead, multiple discs for a game isnt new, if he is concerned about costs just rise the price of the game (shows that the psfail still fails) and justify by putting in extras or downloadable content i.e. the original metal gear games (nes ones).

Norbit said: "The 50gb ones are far more expensive (no other game or movie has used one)..."

I'm not sure if this is what you meant to say, but a very large amount of blu-ray movie titles are published on BD-50... check out this site http://www.blu-raystats.com/stats.php and on the "Size" filter, choose BD50.

BD-50 discs are not *that* much more expensive, especially if it means that a game developer will be able to see his vision come to unadultered, uncompressed fruition.

BTW is it confirmed anywhere that the game is actually using a 50gb disk not a 25gb one? The 50gb ones are far more expensive (no other game or movie has used one) and in the last interview I read with Kojima he was talking about how the game would probably fill its 25gb Blu-ray disk so while I might be wrong I think people may be jumping to conclusions about the game being 50gb.

Joelteon7 the only content they got rid of was the English audio in the Japanese version and the Japanese audio in the English version. How is that a problem? They compressed some stuff as well which is what every single other game does so how is that a problem? Please tell me how lowering the standard of some of the audio to the same level as normal games is a problem?

So what are they gonna do Norbit, get rid of content, which they seem to have done,
"the game’s quality isn’t quite what it could have been thanks to a lack of storage on Blu-ray discs."

I'd rather have a game with more stuff to do in it than shiny graphics, because then you have a good game that will last the ages, and not one that looks good for the time.

I've gotta admit though, when I read this article, I thought the same as Jose. Norbit, he doesn't have a clue, right, but that doesn't mean you do either. They are saying there's a problem, otherwise there wouldn't be a news item  Didn't the Heavenly Sword(s) formating use an old music format that took up about 20gb or something in a similar vain. I mean, why did they NEED to fill the disc up? Doesn't make much sense.

I think this is a case of they under-estimated how much space they really had and likely went over a bit. Sure, they've fixed it now, but we might not know what this additional content is.

Jose said: "They did a shoddy job in there file compression and organization for sure and now they want to blame someone else"

You havent got a clue what you are talking about lol

They arent blaming anyone because there isnt a problem. It is better not to compress anything because compression can impair quality and you have to use system resources to uncompress it.

"Kojima has a thing for not making his new titles' games on more than one disc"

Yea, but he'll make you plug in the contoller into the second port to finish the game. WTF.

I'm not tech savvy enough, but doesn't a double layer mean double-sided ? Some clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This is from an article dated back in August of 2005.

"While not yet commercially available, researchers say they have developed prototypes of double-layer Blu-ray discs in the lab that can hold up to 100 GB. "

So Mr. Kojima, trying to delay this project further in favor of waiting for the double layer?

Why should they compress it if they dont need to? If they ever really get short of space they can compress all the HD FMV and audio and probably free up 25gb+.
