Please don’t use next gen wars or vg chartz for anything number wise. They are estimates based on fomulas that are not real numbers. Sony now states in units sold while Microsoft states in units shipped. VG chartz just collects data from a few retailers and then projects an estimate on what the real totals should be. This is not accurate data. Next Gen wars is just a program that updates totals based on a formula not really anything more. Sorry Listen to the companies when they announce totals.

Games get delayed get over it. Gears of War was supposed to be a launch title, Twilight pincess was supposed to be gamecube only but it got pushed back so much that it became a Wii title too. Get over it.

And…… Any spaz can post facts and figures all day, what the bottom line is Kaz Hirai predicted “11 million” sales by March 2008. I can post facts and figures all day for both sides, but it wont make a difference. March 2008 will see the sales numbers, personaly i dont care because i dont work for Sony or Moneysoft. I forgot to mention that I agree with your main point that Sony’s PS3 has so many major franchise games launching over the next 6 months that we are really going to see the PS3 sales increase dramatically.

Microsoft only SHIPPED 4.4 million units for the entire 4th quarter of November 2006. They did not SELL 4.4 million units in the month of November. And for the entire first year of the xbox 360’s sales Nov 22, 2005 – Nov 22, 2006 Microsoft only sold 5.6 million units. Too many people are confusing SHIPPED units with actual sales.

Being accurate on details in order to assess a situation or topic is not a function of being a raving fan or “fanboy”. Its’s the only proper way to really understand what is happening with the situation at hand; and to have a proper debate about it.

However I would say your distaste for accuracy and obvious dislike for Sony would make you an, as you would say, xbox 360 fanboy. You do not base your points on anything other than emotion. I can only hope you don’t deal with people on a daily basis in this fashion and if you do you shouldn’t.

If Kaz did say 11 million sales I believe it. You really should not try to hang a fellow before he is found guilty, if you do you may find you made a pretty big mistake.

…yet the PS3 is set to SELL that when released in 2 regions for only 15 months and the EU for just 12.

They announced a week ago that its sold over 5m worldwide. At its current rate of monthly sales it would hit 8m by the end of March ‘08 but it isn’t going to stay at its current rate of sales because of all the big games due. To hit 11m by the end of March they only need to improve sales by an average of 125,000 per week worldwide. Metal Gear, LittleBigPlanet, Time Crisis 4, Home, Haze, Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank are some of the reasons why it will definitely happen.

If it wasn’t going to hit that target they wouldn’t keep repeating it. They have been saying this for most of the year. If they didnt believe they could hit that target they would keep lowering it like Microsoft did with the target they set in June last year. They said they would ship 15m by June this year. Then in January they changed it to 12m. Then June came they didn’t even hit that. Its funny that people still think the PS3 is selling badly when its selling faster than the PS2 and PS1 did and they think the 360 is selling well when its selling slower than the Xbox The biggist game it has is released this year, its cheap and it has a load of games yet its still shipped less than 2m worldwide in 2007.

Whenthe PS3 hits this target it will have done so far quicker than the 360. It took Microsoft 18 months just to ship that amount yet the PS3

And to blow your mind xbox 360 will be last for first year sales! Wii first, then PS3, followed in third place by the xbox 360! Mind numbing isn’t especially if you have been drinking the koolaid put out by the media and Microsoft without studing up on what has really occured sofar.
