Jihadists Invade Second Life

Have you ever wanted to start your own terrorist cell?
Would you like military instruction on weapons, assassination techniques, the manufacture of poisons and how to make explosives?
Look no further than your friendly neighborhood internet.

The Economist has a rather disturbing article on the newest training camp for the murder and mayhem that is jihad: the world wide web. According to the article, terrorists have taken up residence in various internet social sites, including Second Life. They use these gathering places as platforms to spread propaganda and instruct the masses on how to start their own terrorist cells.
The decentralized nature of the web and the anonymity it provides have given birth to an ideal new recruitment tool for Al Queda of other terrorist organizations. One of the major minds behind organizing these networks “Irhabi007†was stopped and incarcerated but his legacy goes on. Videos of terrorist attacks accompanied by patriotic music go up within minutes of executions. Terrorist recruiters use public video sites to spread their messages and demands and video games like Night of Bush Capturing also serve as recruitment tools.
“Intelligence agencies are dealing with the problem once people have manifested themselves as existing terrorists,†says Professor Bruce Hoffman, an expert on terrorism at Georgetown University. “We have to find a way to stanch the flow. The internet creates a constant reservoir of radicalized people which terrorist groups and networks can draw upon.â€
And you were worried about child predators.

AHAHAHAHA What chicken little paranoia bullshit.
While this might seem like paranoia it actually brings to light the fact our elected officials will use this as justification to do anything they want in the name of preventing terrorism.. because they are in fact using some parts of it.
Yes i also find this funny, Like earlier in another post Fascists Deface Kirby and some bldg on Second life. WOW this is too funny. now Terrorist cells are invading. How can a virtural world have so much of the real world problems. It makes me wonder how people get involved in things. Second life is a virtural world.
Maby they should send a Virtural Army to take out those terrorits cells. This is too much like a video game for me to care. But in the real world yes terrorists should be stoped in any format they choose to invade, even in Second life its wrong to spread their hate messages.
I call crap !
if they are annywhere theyll be in a subnetworkof their own….
NO WAY, WE’RE NOT ON SL, WE’RE ON IMVU.
I mean.. sh*t… PURGE CELL ACTIVITY!
You know, if some government or another used this to ban secondlife…. I doubt I could muster up the outrage to mind.
I find some of this a little hard to buy.. it’s going back to the terror alert days earlier in the decade. The day we stop fearing terrorism is the day our government goes back to normal power.
Never seen anyone from Georgetown University active in Second Life; sounds like a bunch of trumped-up bollocks. Most Second Lifers are not naive enough to forget that they’re being watched too….the only people creating war-based sims in Second Life are Department of Defense people working behind the scenes with unis.
