psp Japan Gets All the Good Stuff – DVR, Internet Radio Support for PSP

Next Tuesday, Japanese PSP owners will be waking up to firmware 3.80 which adds some much welcomed features for Sony’s handheld. Using a new Japan-only peripheral, the PSP will be capable of digital video recording (DVR) which will allow you to record television shows directly onto your memory stick.

Additionally, Internet radio support is being added, although just how this works remains unclear. This will most likely be a feature we see make its way out of Japan, whereas DVR support would require specific peripherals which can’t be found outside of Japan.

These are certainly some nice features, it’s just too bad that you’ll likely only get to take advantage of the main one if you live in Japan.

i prefer my PSP’s 1.5 firmware, for homebrew reasons. i like its current features because of this, buy ya Sony, deliver the goods to the US. homebrew all the way.

Eh, the Japanese always has better gear than they release to Europe or the U.S. markets….not too surprising.
