jadeempire1 1 Jade Empire Sequel On the Way

Kind of a strange source for something like this, but it looks like Dean Takahashi of the San Jose Mercury News recently stumbled upon some information indicating that a sequel to Jade Empire is currently in the works. A sequel to BioWare’s second Xbox RPG has been rumored for awhile, and apparently Takahashi talked with someone who has seen the code for the upcoming game. It will supposedly be coming to the Xbox 360 exclusively, which makes sense given the developer’s past history. A lot of people were somewhat disappointed with Jade Empire, especially since it didn’t exactly live up t expectations set by Knights of the Old Republic — but then again, what game could? But maybe the BioWare has learned a few lessons since creating Mass Effect.

I kind of liked Jade Empire. Hopefully the sequel will not only be good, but a bit longer than the last one.

I really tried to like Jade Empire. Really I did. Ultimately, it was a let down. I was enjoying it about a third of the way through when all of a sudden I found myself no longer having fun. Of course, I forced myself to beat it.

I guess the dialogue wore thin on me or the characters got too annoying. Looking back on it, the arena was sort of fun.

It just didn’t have the lasting effect that KOTOR had. I mean, KOTOR had a homocidal robot cracking me up all the way through. In that respect, Jade Empire had nothing close in comparison.

I played both KOTOR and JE and found them both equally enjoyable. KOTOR has that whole pop “mythology” going for to help “pad” it’s popularity. But there is one thing I like about JE better, the live action combat. Sooo many times I longed for live combat in KOTOR. Wanna know my dream Satr Wars Jedi Game would be? Something that has the great story and role playing of KOTOR but with the saber fighting and other combat like Jedi Academy built on something like the Havok Engine(i.e.- HL2) or some other really good physics engine for cool force powers! :D
And it had better be for the PC as well as consoles!

    hip63 :p

    Jade sucked.

  6. Sesmu says:

Yes it did. Why are they wasting their time on this. They should get their rich butts developing KOTOR 3. I’m pretty disgusted because obviously it doesn’t merit a sequel before KOTOR 3… :S

But I’ll reserve judgment on the game itself, it might turn out to be pretty good. But a little disappointed in their decision.

I personally loved Jade Empire and would kill to play a sequal to it. I’ve been waiting and looking forward to even hearing word that they would be releasing it. Unfortunately I don’t have a 360 so i’ll have to try and get one or something. I don’t know. Regardless, I would really like to play it when it comes out.

Just finished JE and it really is good game. Of course it isn’t as amazing as Kotor but in my own rating Kotor was excellent, JE is “only” very good.

I loved both games, the graphical quality of both was fantastic, the way you got to know your followers was wicked, and the storyline to both games was amazing, I do not understand how people compare the two, Kotor had the whole Star Wars background going for it, so it was expected in my book to be a little better and I was disappointed with it though the potential there is Great, however every now and again I like to put aways my sabre, stop choking people and use some ancient kung-fu to beat so butt. Either way both again were great games and in my eyes equal I look forward to the respective sequels in earnest though I just hope they add some more customization in JE 2 both of your character and of your martial arts, maybe even incorporate a design your own style though I am sure that would be difficult.

  12. AnjiiOwns says:

there is my post up above then also I have a few things to add like when you go evil, there should be some differences in appearances instead of always looking the same, they did an ok job in kotor series but it could have been better like a way to do this would maybe have set characters but if you go evil eye color changes hands look different clothes get darker same with good cause the whole concept of part one was corruption and well it just did not go to good with the guys/girls appearance, so anyways I apologize for any errors or hard to understand dialog I am in a major hurry gl, also full of ideas if anyone wants to hear more let me know

  13. Mill says:

Bioware needs longer games definitely.I want Kotor 3 more than Jade Empire 2.
