@FrostPaw: I wish that were the case. It’s really a funny situation. News outlets like Fox News, NBC, CNN, etc. will always give Jack Thompson a chance to air his views. If video game news sites didn’t stand up against his views, then the world would only get one side of the view.

I think if we can get the word out about how his views and statements completely lack credibility, perhaps the mainstream media would avoid him. I don’t really know what the answer to this is, but we certainly can’t avoid the topic completely. JT may have some really wacked out views, but there are plenty of people in the world willing to listen to those views and back them up. His work against the music radio industries was very successful on many levels. I’d hate to see him have the same level of success against games.

So what if guns are as plentiful as hershey bars in Rosie O’Donnels pants, point still stands that these are a very small minority of people, who are incapable of handling life, regardless of whether they played video games or not, that are commiting these crimes. It’s these unstable people who need to be watched, not people who play video games, or people who own weapons.

Games don’t kill people, guns don’t kill people, people kill people. I play Counter-Strike and I have a variety of weapons that are available to me, but does that mean I’m some murder hungry fool? I have two kids!

If this guy is right about video games being simulators, why doesn’t he play some of the Ace Attorney games? maybe then he’d have a clue!

Also, why doesn’t Valve stand up for it’s developers! Apparently they aren’t anywhere near as proud of their workers as EA is.

I feel sorry for his son. Really do. It’s not his fault, and all this negative stuff about his father will soon reach his ears, if that hasn’t already begun. So wacko isn’t just screwing up the lives of many, but the bigger shame is that he’s screwing up his son’s life. Some great Christian values he’s teaching his son there.
