Is The Wii-Zapper Too Gun-like?

Tomorrow, the Wii Zapper/Link’s Crosbow Training bundle lands on shelves. Of course, it didn’t take long for various journalists to start making claims that the Wii zapper is too gun-like. The Washington Post’s Monica Hesse believes that the new peripheral will come with some heavy political backlash. She’s probably right considering the insane “pc” culture we currently live in.
Looking at the above photo, I find it hard for anyone to believe that it’s too gun-like but you know how people are. The backlash is definitely brewing and we are going to see a lot of it this week. I spent two enlistments in the United States Army and was exposed to many various weapon systems and I can say that the Wii Zapper looks like no realistic weapon I have ever seen. I also wonder why people would expect a video game gun to look like something that isn’t a gun at all. I’m sure this will be a heated debate all week, but it really makes little sense to me.
Look at the above image and tell me what you think it looks like. Looks kind of like a plastic device used to play video games. It certainly doesn’t look like a real gun, but you can be the judge.

If someone actually mistakes THAT for a gun, then they must be really really retarded.
Looks like a can opener O.o
WAIT! What the Hell, why is this news, what about all the Gun’s made for Time Crisis? Wireless ones, those look more like guns than this, it’d be like thinking the Ghostbuster gun was a leaf blower!
Its not “gun” enough. I mean cmon, where do I put the bullets?
Why blame it on the “pc crowd”? Some of the console players might get upset too.
How does that look like a gun? If you want to see a real gun Google image search: “gun”
it looks like a star trek phaser rifle thing more than any gun ive seen…
