goldenaxe Is Golden Axe Worth The 400 Points?

Golden Axe is available on the Xbox Live Arcade for 400 points.  It doesn’t get any cheaper than that, but I really do not think it’s worth the purchase.  I downloaded it the other day and it’s basically the exact same game it’s been for years.  Perhaps if they had upgraded it some, it would have been interesting.  Sega has basically whored out Golden Axe on dozens and dozens of systems over the years and it’s honestly just old now.  How can we get excited about a retro game that resurfaces every year or two with no changes?  I’m not saying Golden Axe is a bad game.  It’s a classic, but not one I can get too excited about anymore.  If you happen to be a hermit and have never played the game before, sure it’s worth the 400 points.

    I’ve never played it

Golden Axe is the only game I have ever finished in an arcade at the first try with one credit

Playing a lot of these retro games is normally a huge disappointment. I absolutely loved Streets of Rage 2 on the Megadrive. It cost me £44.99 back in ‘93 (still the most expensive game I’ve ever bought) and I thought at the time that gaming couldn’t get any better. After moving on to newer consoles I didn’t play the game for around 10 years until last year when I got a Megadrive emulator for my PC and played it all over again.

What a pile of shit

Desert Strike and Road Rash 2 were equally disappointing

Ive played it on Genesis. Played it on countless emulators. a good classic but not worth it then. so I say NO, 400 points i can double that and get a good Xbox 360 game.
