This is totally silly. If you buy through xbox you have to pay shipping charges. CC is a lesser quality store and CompUsa just went under. BB also offers service and product replacement plans on their games and their consoles. You can buy it at xbox for 19.99 plus 5 dollars shipping or pay 22.00 for it at BBY. Seems like BBY is the better choice. CC is on its way out the door. Their service plans suck, their store sucks, their merchandise selections is half of BBY. I love BBY and have been shopping there for years and years. Always will… They stand behind their product, their customers and their employees.

so if you guys think this is so outrageous, you have 2 options…
1. Do not buy from best buy
2. Go to best buy and quote a competitors prices, and they will at least match them if not beat them.

if someone is willing to pay more money for the same items they dont deserve to handle their own finances and i would not feel sorry for them if they get robbed blind

You think that BB customer service is great? Perhaps in some “one store city” where everyone knows each other, therefor Billy could not be an ass to Bob, because then Bob would kick his ass on way home later.
Every single customer service rep that work at BB is told during the training that “they are only customers, 99.9% of them dont know jack about the products they are wanting to purchase, tell them whatever you want, just so they buy it”. This is coming from one of the Regional Manager for BB.
This is why they can tell you ” We do not want you as a customer anymore, please leave the store” and this is right after you confront them with the fact that you do know what you are after, and you do have a very good product knowledge.

Look at the Geek Squad, the only real job title they have is “salesman”, they have been told every training, “When you walk into customers home, make sure you leave with an invoice that is at least $250 or more, no matter what kind of a job you do” — and you call this “Customer Service”? My 7-eleven has a better service then that.

As someone who has Worked for both Circuit city and Best buy. I feel I have a understanding of both companies. Best buy has been doing this for at least the last 5 years. Secondly Best buy feels like walking into a Mcds designed to get you in and out fast. It feels very corporate and bland. Circuit city on the other hand I have found tends to have sales and techs that act more naturally. and Treat folks how any normal person wants to be treated. the Ambiance in the store is readily apparent. As far as pricing most of the time Circuit city does tend to have better pricing across the board. And I have been told this by customer’s themselves who shop at both stores. This is no suprise to me.

You may be able to get stuff a little cheaper at CC or CompUSA, this is true. I know sometimes they have good deals on games, and DVD’s and all that and its awesome. Just see how long it last because…..oh yeah one closed a ton of stores, and the other closed stores, then fired people and hired them back at a heck of a paycut. Also you can buy stuff online but good luck if anything is wrong. I know I am on my 4th Xbox 360 in less than 6 months and they help me everytime with no trouble or questions.

It’s normal. Maybe you don’t know but since less-price centers, like WalMart, arrives, the video games retailers are making less and less money. I’m working at FutureShop and we’re doing this since years. We’re selling Boogie 5$ more becasue there’s a mic included, we’re selling the Wii 10$ more because it’s rare and since regulars customers are not looking for better price, we do not price beat anything. But the worse part is that they do not modify the cost in the system so anybody can deals videogames and we’re not allowed to buy it at a good price in Staff pruchases

Best Buy will price match any sale price from another store. I got my Samsung DLP for $400 off because Fry’s had it on sale. Also, Best Buy’s customer service is far better than Circuit City. You walk into CC and you’re lucky to do any product comparison because they’re product demos are trashed and/or missing, no power connected to them, mispriced. We started going solely to BB when my $1000 camcorder that I bought a 4-year warranty on died after 3 years and 8 months and they gave me the full amount back in credit to puchase a brand new HD camcorder. Now with the Rewards Zone points we purchased a refrigerator, two HD TV, a Nintendo Wii, and the HD camera and so we’ve gotten over $75 in gift cards to use how we want. Sorry but CC and Fry’s have nothing on Best Buy’s customer service.

This is nothing new, this is what Best Buy does and has always done. They have a (reasonably) good price on primary items and then charge ridiculous prices for all the little crap you have to buy to go along with it.

I bought a surround sound kit from them once at a very good price. I went looking for some speaker mounts (little molded plastic things that typically cost about $25 for a set) and they wanted 90$ for a set.

So long as you’re aware of this though, it’s not that big a deal. Just by your accessories somewhere else.

Why raise the price of something when the RRP is lower? Surely they should be trying to cut the price to get more business. Over here in the UK if an online retailer isn’t cheaper than the shop price you wouldn’t even look at the website again.

Circuit City on the other hard fires people, then rehires the same people at 1/3 less the pay they were getting when they worked there. Most times people at CC have no clue what they are speaking off when it comes to products.
Best Buy is nothing but a RIP OFF place as well, all the sales people think everyone that walks into their store does not know shit about any of the product.
I personally enjoy my online shopping, yea it takes some time to get here, no problem, still got it cheaper.

How dare Best Buy take advantage of low supply and high demand to make money! I mean, the whole reason for communism is that everything is the same price everywhere right?
