earthwormjim1 1 Interplay Reviving Earthworm Jim, Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance, Descent, and MDK?Taking a cue from Hollywood, it seems Interplay is looking at recycling some old franchises for new games. Through a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company revealed its plans to put the money it made from selling the Fallout franchise to Bethesda Softworks towards reviving its own development studio. They’re apparently looking to develop new installments for such franchises as Earthworm Jim, MDK, Descent, and Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance.

Let’s see…

Earthworm Jim: Why? I mean it was funny a decade ago, but c’mon. Plus his last foray into the 3D world wasn’t pretty.

MDK: Could be cool with a next-gen upgrade. They’d need to add a crazy new gameplay element though, since the ones it was known for have all be done better by other games now.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance: Yeah, cause we really need another simplistic Diablo knock-off.

Descent: This could be awesome with a graphical makeover and possibly some online multiplayer.

I would LOVE another Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance. That was a great game. The first was better than the second. Give me that old school hack n slash RPG any day. The BG:DA games were really good, if someone knows of something similar of high quality, please point me in that direction.
