Interactivity Could Degrade The Web By 2010

We should really enjoy our high speed interactive internet right now, because by the year 2010 we could very easily degrade back to the slow days of dial-up. A new study by Nemertes Research shows that we are already experiencing a slow process of degrading due to the use of videos and interactivity that are basically slowing down the speed of the internet as a whole. Their study shows that internet providers will have to invest at least $55 billion to reverse this process. Unfortunately, $55 billion is approximately 70% more than they planned to invest.
This is definitely unfortunate news and we hope that things do get reversed. This could definitely hit the video game industry very hard. Imagine playing Halo 3 with dial-up speed connections. The thought is almost too painful for me to imagine. Reverting back to dial-up speed could be the one thing that finally pushes me over the edge into the abyss of insanity.
