Intel believes that Nintendo’s successor to the Wii console will not come with hand controllers.

“We imagine some future generation of [Nintendo's] Wii won’t have hand controllers,” said Justin Rattner, the company’s chief technology officer.

“You just set up the cameras around the room and wave your hand like you’re playing tennis.”

No one really knows what the next round of consoles will come with, but I am not sure if we really need to be living in a Minority Report style gaming age. Of course, Intel will be trying better for the next round, considering most of the current consoles use chips produced by IBM. Some people may find a controller-less console to be really interesting, but I’m sure there will be production shortages on that as well. Nintendo really needs to work on catching up with current demand before thoughts of the next system enter their heads.

Get it going. the Wii 2 would be smoking. imagine it with some Hi-def graphics and motion control. even with a controller. Have the power of the latest processor(s), it would be even better, add backwards compatibility for the current wii, online play, and you got a winner. ofcourse the Wii is already a winner.

because I love quote Back to the Future: “You mean you have to use your hands? That’s like a baby’s toy.”

Wow. A game where you are hitting balls with your hands with no controller? That’s awesome! Who would ever have thought of something like that?

One of the exercise games from EyeToy Kinetic on the PS2:

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a far better version at some point for the PlayStation Eye.

Still is nice to hold something tangible in my hand as I play thuogh. To give a feeling of weight to that hand that’s swinging a virtual racket.
