Infinity Ward Not Making Call of Duty 5?

While everyone seems to be oohing and aahing at the upcoming Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, it seems that Infinity Ward may not be developing Call of Duty 5. Don’t fret just yet though, as they’ll most likely be back for CoD6. Awhile back, publisher Activision decided they wanted to have a new Call of Duty game out every year, which didn’t leave enough time for Infinity Ward to create the games they wanted to. So a compromise was made after CoD2: Infinity Ward would get two years to make another title, and the franchise would be handled by developer Treyarch in the interim. This explains why CoD3 may have seemed quite a bit different from CoD2. It hasn’t been confirmed, but it seems that this deal may carry over into the next game as well. During that time though, Infinity Ward will also be doling out new downloadable content (maps, weapons, perks, etc.) for CoD4.
This sounds like a pretty good compromise to me, since it keeps both the publisher and the developers happy. I figure a great Call of Duty game every two years is better than a so-so one every year.

call of duty 4 is a very good game with all the weapons and all that, cod3 was stiil good but the campaign gets boring after u complete it, and if they bring cod5 bk to WW2 then its just a stupid idea because i want to see wat would happen after the end of cod4.

Everyone has their own oppinions about weapons, but remember: Call of duty 4 isn’t World War 2 anymore. The weapons improve, and so does the equipment.
You say that weapons in CoD2 required skill. Maybe I just was unlucky with servers or were skilled at the use of the weapons, but I think they were very easy to use, required almost no skill to aim and kill with… And whole servers where you owned if you got the ppsh. Just like what you say about p90…
To be good in Call of duty 4 (on good servers) is actually not just run and gun… you need to use all avaible equipments and cover to manage a 25/1 K/D.
In the last part of your post, you actually say, that if people like CoD4, then they are unskilled noobs. You get better with CoD4, and the experience is much better than that of CoD2.! Plus you actually get to customise your weapon totally (which I for one like).

When i Played COD 3 i was really confused that it wasnt on PC then i was quite disapointed at the game itself after playing it, i was really confused and then realised why it sucked…TREYARCH

Treyarch arent bad…but…it just wasnt the same…i ended up getting frustrated…i dont know why..i just didnt like CoD 3…never finished it…never really liked it…and i think Treyarch are the root of the problem…they just created another lame world war 2(or 1) game with repetetive levels that got boring….infinity ward raise the bar each time they make a CoD and have gotten great reviews each time…
cant wait for CoD 6…in the mean time i will try CoD 5…but i doubt it will be good

I’m just replying to one aspect of your post because I did not know what the HELL you were talking about.
If you get 25-1 on one round and 10-25 on the next, that only means the game is actually balanced so all the ones who play 24/7 don’t start going crazy bragging about how “skilled” they are.
25-1 in Call of Duty 4? Let me guess, 3x frag grenades, all of which were whipped in random directions, a p-90 with a red dot sight, using juggernaut and last stand, and sitting in a corner, underneath a set of stairs, for 10 minutes.
Anyway, I think it would be a great idea if Treyarch made it set in WW1. How cool would it be to have a huge (and I mean HUGE) open map with trenches and all, with at least 30 players, just going nuts with nothing but an old school rifle and bayonet? No perks, no 6000 grenades flying in every direction, just straight up old school hardcore warfare, back and forth, with the amazing graphics and sound that people have come to expect from the COD series. Maybe even throw in some of the earliest examples of armored vehicles and fighter planes, like the Albatros and the British S.E 5. Now THAT would be a good game.

What you’re saying is on the scale of Crysis or Battlefield 2. O.o That’d be awesome, but they’d have to emphasize a HUGE amount on what you do when you’re in the trench. Like being able to peek over the corner to see enemies (you can’t shoot) but not get shot, be able to expand your own trench… You know what, if a game like that exists, I would definately buy it.

It’s amazing you can even spell your own name. And I’m willing to bet the only reason you like CoD4 is because it’s a camper’s dream. Not everyone is like you either. I for one enjoy playing CoD3 online much more than 4, because it’s more realistic, and the maps are a lot bigger (in other words, camping is futile). On the other hand, I’ll admit CoD4 Single Player blows Cod3’s clean out of the water…I’m hoping Treyarch puts in a little more effort for 5.
Oh, and according to their website, they are searching for level designers who “Enjoy World War 2 shooters”. This is probably the strongest evidence as to what the time period will be. I’d be happy with another WW2 Shooter, though I still think WW1 would have been a better choice.

Ok, here’s how it works. Treyarch and Infinity Ward seem to have some kind of deal. While one is working on one, the other releases one. So basically, Treyarch is most likely working on COD5, while Infinity Ward is laying the ground work for their next installment. Expect to see COD 6 from Infinity Ward, if it even is developed. The Call of Duty series is a big moneymaker, so I doubt that they will end it.
Alot of people mostly pefer Infinity Ward over Treyarch, and I also think so too. There are limited details about Call of Duty 5 on the internet so far, but there are rumors about it being WW2. I personally think WW1 would be awesome to play for once. With all the trench fighting and everything, it would be cool to play. But maybe Treyarch will make a decent game for once, and maybe improve their reputation, since their Call of Duty games don’t get the best reviews.
I agree with most….Cod4 and Cod2 Are a MILLION times better than CoD3.

I tell u wot it betta not be in f***in WW2 again that is seriously worn out. I want them to make a continuation of the modern warfare franchise because this gives a whole new twist to the CoD games. If they made a WW2 game again, i for one, would certainly not be buying it. Ill stick with CoD 4 because it is a great game.

You know what Infinity ward made a killer cod4 game but seriously LOVE the job that they did with the sniping for cod3/2. Sniping for cod4 licks balls but im still one of the best. Took some time to get the lag and stuff.
Future games should have wind variations for the 50 cal. And they should make a 50cal autamatic kill… Because really 50cal. Where made to dissable cars.

co2 and cod4 have way better maps and less glitches in online then cod3

cod 3 sucks ass online cuz there lots of aimbotters and snipers and stupid campers,call of duty 4 has hackers and they kill u quicker even if u get the first shot and the dont even die.btw cod 4 would have been better if they had stupid vehicles but airstrikes and helicopters are okay but i wish u could drive a helicopter instead of calling it in if u get killed by a helicopter in kill cam it shows the view from the helicopter like the player was driving it.i hate the sabotage gametype cuz to many retards are camping the bomb instead of getting it,domination is the easiest gametype to level up,weird why the mp44 is in the but no germans and its a german weapon so why is it in cod 4 if there are no germans,the m14 isnt a assault rifle its and unscoped m21 cuz it sounds like it and looks like it and sounds like it but holds 20 round clips instead of 10,add an ACOG scope and make it a homemade sniper rifle

To jz – Can people set off live grenades when they die in real life? No. Can people magically increase their total “health” in real life? No. Can people magically make their bullets do more damage in real life? No. Can people magically make their bullets shoot through thicker walls in real life? No. Do people walk around the battlefield with guns painted in childish blue, red, and gold painted guns in real life? No. Thanks for coming out.

By the way, twojays, there are no aimbotters in CoD3. It’s not possible. It is however possible to get very good at aiming for long shots even without a scope, with practice. It’s also possible to use a mouse and keyboard in CoD3. But camping? I’ve logged hundreds, if not thousands of hours in CoD3 and I’ve yet to see someone camp, and then win by doing so. The levels are too big for camping to even be an advantage.
Silva86, I don’t know why you love COD 3 so much. Games have hacks and cheats no matter what platform it is on. Plus, why are you ripping the realism in COD 4. Did you ever hear of someone pulling the pin on the grenade before they die, that is a tactic used by many troops before they die, especially terrorists. I don’t know “making a bullet shoot through thicker walls” is a good statement either, that is just a generalization. In COD 3 you can’t do that, which makes it unrealistic. What is with the statement, “magically increasing your total health in real life”. You are basically ripping COD 3 and COD 4 because they both don’t have a health bar (as well as COD 2). Stop making up lame excuses to make a point.

You CAN (not magically) increase the damage a bullet does by simply increasing the caliber of the bullet. In effect, you can penetrate thicker walls. Compare something like a 9 mm shooting a sheet of plywood versus a .50 Caliber. Which would win? (of course, bullet caliber of guns are different)
