Looks like video game sales are still trumping those from 2006. The final results for last month still aren’t in, but Barrons is forecasting some big numbers.
Sales from last month have been forecast at $445 million, up 12 percent from last year at this time. Comparatively, growth is slowing a bit, having soared during July. And numbers might decline as the year goes on, but the holiday season is sure to bring one huge peak to everything.
Barrons estimates that the new consoles, which are hardware and software from the PS3, PSP, Wii, Nintendo DS, and the Xbox 360, have brought in $310 million, with all other sales bringing in $135 million. Looks like the “old” consoles are still going strong, bringing in more than a quarter of total sales.
