India’s Xbox Live Will Be Better Than Ours

Microsoft will be launching Xbox Live in India on November 5th, and from the looks of it, they’re getting a pretty sweet deal. Speaking to the press in New Delhi, the company made a slew of announcements, including the simultaneous launch of Games for Windows Live, different XBL packages, accessories, and new features that will be added to the service. Soon after the launch, the Xbox Live Marketplace will also become available, which will include all games and media already available as well as some region specific content, such as Indian cartoons and Bollywood movies. Besides that, they’ve also partnered up with Seventymm, India’s version of Netflix, to rent out Xbox 360 games to subscribers. But wait, there’s more: India will also be the first country to receive educational content through Xbox Live in the form of “educational aids” for grades 1-12.
I’ve never felt so envious of India before in my life. They may have some of the worst poverty and AIDS rates in the world, but man do they know how to handle an online distribution service. Hopefully, this is sign that Microsoft is open to Netflix’s ideas of offering their services through the Xbox 360 as well.

so who do they call when “xbox live-india” breaks down?
I honestly take offense to this article, This is stupid that you say “India’s Xbox Live Will Be Better Than Ours” can you please think of all the things you get before anyone else? So, India’s Xbox live service has a few new features, im sure the next place they implement it will be USA then JAPAN and EUROPE. In Australia we wait for games the rest of the world has had for weeks (sometimes months in the case of Nintendo). Xbox live Australia has NOTHING on it, there are a few game trailers and thats it, no TV shows, no movies, oh we have choice of two music videos we can download.
I’m sorry, I love this site, but please, remember, what did India ever have else before you?
Maybe I’m taking this to hard, I’m happy to see more features coming to Xbox live for some people I suppose.
@Cox: I’m sorry to hear about the troubles my aussie brothers are going through in terms of gaming. I’ve heard many a tale about the horrors of being an Australian gamer and I really wish there was something I could do about it. I guess that’s the trade-off for having kick-ass beer
actually india is improving at a very rapid pace…..our stock markets are doing exceedingly well even better than the us markets….and i do agree that right now the us is better….and the most important reason is corruption but now that the country is developing so fast its not long before we can compete with the best.dont flame me for this cause thats the way to go u always try to campare urself with the best thr is and that is the only way u can improve
no offence bur how many 360s sold in india to date?i know india is a third world country and over a billion population there. i heard still there are millions and millions of people who dont get food for days.60 buks a game here in US.i wonder how many people can afford a game which costs 2400 there.also i dnt think indian people r into games that much as japanese, european and north americans, australins are. coz i know some indian friends here and i never seen them talking about games or anything.
Well dont worry guys xboxlive live in india forever yea i hear some usa ppl think the xboxlive is bad idea for india and they think we r so poor to buy a videogame yea ckeke agine my friend now going to rich and i love x360 i buy it when it lounch now xboxlive here india so i will teach y all usa .Uk and a gamers how to play the game til than bay and just wat for me to kick your*
Heck I’m from India & I’ve been using live for an year now. The only problem is that I had to select my country/region as USA & now it wont change
It’s good news for the Indian xbox community, but the fact is that Indian gamers who play original games on live are not even close to the number of gamers who have modded 360’s and play downloaded backups.
The Indian gaming market is negligible as far as sales of consoles and games is concerned.
It’s true, poverty is a serious issue over here, amongst other more serious ones, but please DO NOT compare those with gaming. They are irrelevant.
The minute gaming population in india CAN NOT afford games because most of them the time they are OVERPRICED over here. While other countries get good deals on used games, have rental services, etc….we have nothing like that. (Well not officially, we turn to the grey market for such things)
When the game rental rates were announced, people were shocked. No one pays that much for a 4 day rental. People would rather mod their console and play backups 10x less the rental price.
So you see, the first and foremost issue that needs to be tackled in India is the pricing and simultaneous release of games. Popular games like Assassins Creed, Devil May Cry 4, etc are still not available here officially. GTA4 was launched 3 weeks after the worldwide release. By that majority of the 360 owners had finished the game playing a backup disc downloaded off the net.
What do you guys think MS or even Sony doesnt knows abt it no actually they do know but India is a future market so a seed could be planted for future yeah Death JR. is right abt piracy thing but still some orignals of 360 are still sold few people do buy them but with PS2 I cant say any one had purchased its orignals. Only those in High class would have. But 360 games are easily avilable ( orignals ) so if you want to purchase them you can, MS is fetching a lot of orignals even in small cities wheter they sell or not.
But in PS2 day even Sony world use to keep only 2-3 games and other game if you want them pay in advance and wait for 7 days.
XBL jus rocks ya we do buy original games..saving up money…we ll teach u guys wots gaming
