You might recall the interview that we posted with Play N Trade CEO Yuvi Shmul not too long ago. Well, the tournaments we discussed in that interview are continuing, and the most recent one has ended. Play N Trade has announced the winner of their National Guitar Hero 2 Contest.
The champion is one David Briers, of Richmond, Indiana. In winning the tournament, he posted a score of 584,024 points while playing Free bird at the ‘expert’ level. To compete in this tournament, Briers traveled 150 miles from his home in Richmond, IN to the Lexington, KY Play N Trade store. Upon winning the competition over the other gamers from across the US and Canada, he was awarded a $1,000 in-store gift card and an XBox 360 Guitar Hero 2 Multiplayer Bundle.
The 27-year-old Briers said, “The tournament was a lot of fun, with great competition at the regional and national levels, and I’m looking forward to doing it again. Guitar Hero is my favorite game. I’ve been playing it since it was first released, and really enjoy the songs, which is why I play so much.”
The competition was held June 16, and all local winners received a $50 in-store gift card, a “Guitar Hero Champion” T-shirt and a customized guitar skin. In reference to the tournament, Ron Simpson, founder of Play N Trade, said, “Play N Trade is where gamers want to be. Guitar Hero is our second all-store tournament, and the response was tremendous, with people driving long distances and even taking time during vacation to come in to the nearest Play N Trade for the chance to be crowned National Guitar Hero Champion. Our in-store tournaments generate a lot of excitement and participation because gamers can meet and socialize, show off their skills, compete with players from across the country and win great prizes. The tournaments also attract family, friends and other spectators who come in because the tournaments are as much fun to watch as they are to play.”
You can check out the top 10 players and scores on the Play N Trade Website.
