You need to put the .dll file in the Libusb-win32 folder that you installed. It's located in C:/Program Files/ if you installed it to the default folder.

Once you've done that, run the ps3.exe file. Now it should be recognised, go to calibrate your pad, press the PS button and it should work.

Hey, this works great. BUT, here are some better instructions. IMPORTANT! YOU HAVE TO TURN OFF YOUR PS3! Otherwise, the controller connects to the PS3 via bluetooth and doesn't work over the USB cable! Turn off the PS3 via the rocker switch on the back, where the cable plugs in. The controller can connect to a PS3 that is far away. Our's was 3 rooms over, probably 40 feet away, and connected via bluetooth.

Also, buttons 1-4 are, in order, left joystick push-in, select, start, right joystick push-in. Use Control Panel, game controllers (or in Vista/7, Control Panel, Devices) to calibrate the sticks before use. You can then check all the buttons. Game Controllers shows 19 buttons, but I only got it to work for 16 or so, basically every single button on the controller.

Here are the instructions:

1. Extract the RAR file to a folder on your c:
2. Install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe) (installs the USB driver into Program Files).
3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC. (in windows 7 (final version, not RC), the controller was found right away and I didn't have to do any other steps, but tried the next one anyway).
4. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once. (dos box flashes on screen). You can also open a CMD prompt and change to the folder with the exe file and run the command. That way the box doesn't go away and you can see the success/error message. It should say "controller found".
5. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesn't see it straight away. (I didn't have to do this step).

Have fun! And thanks to the guy who put this together. awesome job.

because ppl like u are backwards. its the same for console users who say why would ppl want to use a KB for gaming? its the same thing. i am one who uses a joypad to play games because thats the way ive played first person shooters all my life. many pc players find it hard to believe it that i murder with a joypad in cod4 and 5 and will when i reserve mw2. im on the pc and i play EVERY game i own with a joypad, except rts games. if u dont believe a joypad will kill just as well, i am [PDE]Paul Kersey of the Perfect Dark Elite Clan. look me up.

Hi,
I've did all of it, my controller works.
But there's one problem.

The X, O, /\, and [] buttons are not working. The rest is working fine (R1, R2, R3, L1, L2, L3, START, SELECT, PATh and ARROWS)

So how could I fix it?

Thanks in advance,
John.

Well the point is that SONY would earn more cash. If they wrote a pad driver for the PCs it would find lots of clients as theres no such a pad like SIXAXISS/DS3 for PC. Not to mention great quality of PS pads.

It works, open the control panel on your pc. Click game controllers, select the ps3 controller on the list then click the properties button. Now run the usbdriver exe thingy and immediately press the 'PS' button. Then look over to the test window press a few buttons on your controller and you should see some lights light up. If it doesnt work repeat the process. If it still doesnt work make sure your PS3 is powered off with the off switch if it is near by, then reconnect the controller to the PS3 with the usb cable and repeat the steps.

This is the way I have gotten it to work for me pretty simple. I just had another question has anyone gotten the PS3 controller to work via Bluetooth? I have a Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter and I do a scan for devices and have been unable to the detect the PS3 controller.

www.djdelboi.blogspot.com check it out free games/movies and music :)

Just a warning to everyone using this method: the drivers you have to install can interfere with Zune mp3 players. After using this method, the Zune software can't detect Zune devices that are connected. Uninstalling the drivers got everything working again, but obviously now I can't use my PS3 controller on my PC. :(
