hmv HMV Admin Admits Mistake for Metal Gear Solid 4 Xbox 360 PreordersOnce again, those of you out there who were clicking your heels together with ruby slippers wishing for your copy of Metal Gear Solid 4 for the 360 will once again be disappointed. HMV is actually not offering preorders of the game.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, an admin was responsible for creating this mess. “In his enthusiasm, one of our online games team indicated that hmv.co.uk would start taking pre-orders for MGS4 on Xbox 360, when, in fact, he simply meant to ask customers if they wished to receive an alert in the event of this title one day coming out on this platform,” the HMV retailer told GamesIndustry.biz.

As you know, we have covered quite a bit of the confusion surrounding the idea that this could happen, the past rumors have died, and so has this one.

and future rumours will continue to die, but they wont stop the rumours, oh no, because how else would they get website hits, and how else would the xbots feel better about buying a halobox 1.5

Whether MGS4 comes to the 360 or not doesn’t really matter, I mean MS has already gotten these exclusives from Sony:

Virtua Fighter 5(with exclusive online support)
Ace Combat 6 (exclusive for now)
    Devil May Cry 4
    Mercenaries 2
    Guitar Hero 3 (exclusive)
Grand Theft Auto IV(with exclusive content)
    Beautiful Katamari
    Stuntman
    Assasin’s Creed, and many others.

Unreal Tournament is only going to be exclusive to the PS3 for 3-4 months which leaves sony with really only a handful of interesting games: Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Liar, and Warhawk.

Microsoft has done their homework when it has come to in-house titles and exclusive games: Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Two Worlds, Halo 3, Project Gotham 4, Mass Effect, and so on. The rest of the titles are multiplatform, meaning they are coming out on both systems. However, all of the multiplatform titles on the PS3 run equally or sometimes even worse than their 360 counterparts. Rainbow Six Vegas looks and plays miserable compared to the 360 version and the PS3 version of Madden only runs 30fps vs the 360’s 60fps Madden. These are just a couple of examples that come to mind.

As of right now, and people will soon come to the realisation that it will always be this way due to the way the PS3 memory is bottlenecked and the more powerful GPU in the Xbox 360, the graphics look muddy and dull compared to the Xbox 360 escpecially when it comes to textures and lighting.

If the Xbox 360 is a garbage machine, what does that make the PS3? With all the games, cheaper price, marketplace service, and the excellent Live service, I don’t think MGS4 is going to be that big of a deal. Even if it is released for the 360, the PS3 fanboys will insist on the PS3 versions superiority. One thing is for sure, MGS4 will not push nearly as many consoles as Halo 3 will. Just be thankful MS isn’t advertising Mass Effect more as that game (although a totally different genre) looks like a true masterpiece.

wow kmach ur on crack if u think xbox 360 is that much better than the ps3. The xbox does have better games & is more popular, but it’s objectively true that the ps3 is a better quality console

  6. Ron says:

@Kmach: Guitar Hero III exclusive to the 360? Where’d you hear that?

  7. ralph says:

@kmach: haha did you forget that this is just the first gen
of the ps3 and 360 is almost on its 2nd gen and look at its
exlusive ps3 gonna have more line up on 2008 e3 inclouding

    GETAWAY 3
    8 days
    L.A NOIRE
    RFOM 2
    GOD OF WAR 3
and i forgot alot of it

thres like 40 exlusive comming to ps3 at the end of 2008 and
another 20 more in workin tittle, btw
some multiplatform game got bad graphics on ps3 becous
they first made the game on 360(wich got low memory disk space space and its easy to make becous some of the producer is lazy)
ps3 and 360 is different spec and its 2nd gen already using its full power unlike ps3 wick just used its half processing power just wait for MGS4 LAIR GT5 and youl see the diffferent..
lets just see what will gonna happen in 2 years from now
becous the game is getting biger and they need a ps3
remember this is next gen so they need more memory
and better processor…..but for now 360 got the spot

  8. RawrMaster says:

How do you know all 40 will be exclusive? We ere told Virtual Fighter was exclusive. Then 360 got it. We were told Assasin’s creed was exclusive, then 360 got it. etc.

Developers see it coming, and are bailing out on Sony. I would too. Their system is difficult to develop for and if the system is utilized the way it was intended, it is very difficult to port to another system.

One thing I’ve learned is not to judge a system based on teh games coming out. Judge it by the games on teh system now. Whether it’s getting exclusives or not, there’s no telling if they will truely stay exclusive.

I’d love to see stuff come out exclusivly for the PS3. I have both a 360 and PS3, and there are no games that interest me for teh PS3. Everything I like on it are also on XBox, and those run better and have acheivements. Sony needs to either 1.) push as hard as they can to keep games and speed up development or 2.) offer a homebrew kit for people to make their own games on it. At least that way, it will get exclusives it will be able to keep.
