Hitler isn’t having a great time with Microsoft. Last summer, he was banned from Xbox Live for using a modified console, and it seems now he is extremely pissed over the downfall of the HD-DVD format after he went through the trouble of buying an HD-DVD player. New Line Cinema, 20th Century Fox, and now Warner Bros. was the last straw for ‘ole Hitler. At least Blades of Glory is still an HD-DVD exclusive. Right guys?

Even better than the last one!!

  2. HdDvdNet says:

Blu-ray still sucks, no matter how much they pay-off to studios. The average consumer will choose the low/fair priced HD DVD players

  3. Daniel says:

@HdDvdNet: Fanboy much? Look at it this way, anyone who purchased a PS3 has a blu-ray player built into the console. The only way to get HD-DVD is to care enough to go out an buy it. The average consumer doesn’t care enough to go out and buy an HD-DVD if there are still DVDs being released. But, if they happen to have a PS3 in their home, then they will be curious and probably buy a blu-ray movie to see what all of the hub bub is about. After they see the huge different between DVDs and Blu-Ray movies, they’ll most likely continue to buy Blu-Ray discs.

    What movie is that from?

  8. Daniel says:

@Josh: I have no clue, but if anyone knows, I’d love to watch that movie.

  9. niyooh says:

I think Hitler would be a Blu-Ray man. I’m an HD DVD dude myself, but this video is pretty funny =D I must admit that this is a good joke. But I think HD DVD really is the better format for the consumer =)

It is a scene from the movie The Downfall: Hitler and the End of the Third Reich.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363163/

It’s a really good movie for those of you who are history buffs.

This also isn’t the first gaming spoof to use this particular scene from the film. I recall a Halo 3 one circulating around prior to launch.

@ Daniel. Quote “After they see the huge different between DVDs and Blu-Ray movies, they’ll most likely continue to buy Blu-Ray discs”. You forgot to factor cost into your very simple equation. Once people see the price difference between BR and SD DVD they probably won’t buy as many as you think. Cost is ALWAYS a factor. Four of my friends have PS3’s and they have 6 films in total. Like you say they were curious, but once that wore off…

This is backed up by the huge number of PS3’s sold but relatively small number of BR films purchased.

  12. Dan says:

the movie used for this clip is titled ”Downfall” or in german as ”Der Untergang”

  13. Jonathan says:

yeah, i have a feeling this isn’t the last spoof of that scene from Downfall we’re going to see. good thing all the one’s so far have been pretty funny. poor ol’ Hitler.

  14. Sk8man says:

@EVERYONE SUPPORTING HDDVD: you are all paid by Toshiba to troll these forums, HDVDVDDDDVDVDFV, whatever, is dead, everyone with a brain knows this and the last ditch effort you have is a terrible attempt at viral maketing, seriously? you really are supporting a format that less than 30 per cent of films are being released on? Someone needs to whack you all over the head really really really hard.

  15. Daniel says:

@Phil: Yea, I did forget to put that into my equation. Most consumers won’t buy everything that comes out for Blu-Ray. I personally get DVDs for movies that I want to see, but don’t want to pay extra for super high def quality. I actually got my first Blu-Ray movie last week, 300, which I believe is well worth the extra money since it was such a great movie and it was visually stunning as well.

  16. William says:

the thing people keep forgetting is the fact that most consumers are not willing to give up on old DVD format just yet. So when Blu=ray wins the format war which they will, it will still be a couple of years before it’s completely accepted by a majority of consumers.

  17. george says:

blu-ray is far better than hddvd!!!!

sorry hddvd owners, should have looked at specs before buying!!!!

  18. somewhat says:

Blu will take over eventually, but it’s a money thing, and consumers will slowly convert, as more and more TV owners switch to high def. Not an overnight thing you know…

  19. Jason says:

Oh nooos, HDDVD si teh d00med. Blu-Ray FTW RALFMACHIO

  20. Phil says:

@ Daniel – 300 is an excellent film in Hi Def and shows off the Blu Ray format at its best. I agree with William that plain old DVD will be around for a very long time. 10 years would be my guess. I’ve just purchased a multi-region Panasonic DVD recorder that upscales to 1080i, which while not proper Hi Def it’s a good balance between cost and quality. I can watch any DVD from any region in the world at a significantly cheaper cost than Hi Def discs, at a picture quality better than DVD. These are BIG pluses for staying with DVD. So whether Blu Ray or HD DVD “win” neither will become the mainstream is my opinion.
