Hilary Wants to Know Your Gaming Habits

Hilary Clinton has issued a survey for research purposes encouraging potential constituents to reveal personal details including their political views, party affiliation and what video games they play. Videogames are becoming increasingly high profile as politicians gear up for campaign overdrive.
Curiously the survey only names three games in particular. All three are non-combat for the most part. They’re also primarily PC games although the Sims series has titles on consoles and handhelds.
Which of the following have you visited or played online?
- Sim City
- Second Life
- Sims
- None of the above
- Other
- Don’t know
The survey also probes internet usage including for playing videogames, which is at least an acknowledgment that adults do play them..
Which activities do you do online most?
- Research issues or questions
- Use a webcam
- Share digital photos
- Download music or video
- Read or post to blogs
- Research products or services
- Watch video sites like youtube
- Shop
- Read the news
- Play video games
- Instant message
- Online banking or bill pay
- Use online social networks
- Talk on the phone using VOiP
While I won’t go into my personal political views, it seems candidates are taking videogames much more seriously. I believe we’ll be seeing much more attention and debate over videogames leading up to election 2008. This may have a fortunate side affect as politicians tend to polarize on issues. They can’t all be against videogames, or they would have nothing to debate. In any case, batten down the hatches and prepare for the storm.

How about none of her damn business. I dono on the USA, but i dont ever expect to see a survey like that in Canada. Her survey is pointless. She should be keeping an eye on Bill.

"How about none of her damn business." … I agree with that. I live in the USA and I think she just wants to buy advertisements in our games. Not like I play the ones she listed … they are kind of dumb games. But still!

Honestly I think she may want to get rid of violent games. Or create difficulties in releasing violent games.

Lets all pray she dont win the democratic nomination. She proved her hatred for video games in some of the legislation she sponsored in the Senate.
SAVE GAMING! VOTE OBAMA!

Hilary is a politician which automaticaly means she is going to use the survey for her benefit.

Whatever she plans to get out of this i doubt she's going to get it.
I think the majority of gamers would agree with Xboxlenny….frankly what i watch on T.V. or what games i play is my business…i see no reason why she should have an interest in what i do in my everyday life.
It's not like us gamers are knocking on her door asking her which woman Bill is sleeping with this week.

honestly if you've followed her long enough she doesn't like video games and is one of the ones that got the esrb rating system up and running. If you want to save video games and millions of peoples interests then don't vote for her. I guarentee the other questions are in there for a placebo effect. It really isn't any of her buisness and if she were smarter about it she wouldn't have said a damn thing till she was possibably elected. Honestly I think she'll eliminate video games that are violent.

Any politician who wants to be my friend and know all of the little things I do in my private life is extending the umbrella of centralized control of those things.
Call me a conspiracy case, but anytime an enemy of the private sector wants to get friendly, beware, regulation will follow.

HEllo Hillary, I play BeJeweled online and solitair.
That is it though. I do not have time to do much of anything else. I take online classes though through my computer for a university to get my teaching degree though. And by the way, I hope that you and your people put a choke hold on violent video games. They are dangerous, and I do not care who thinks that they are not. Maybe this country would not be so messed up with violence and the criminal justice system would not be so overwhelmed with bad people.
I wonder how many of you people out there play violent games with you children. Of course it is none of my business but, how many think starting a fight is ok?
Thanks,
Someone in Tennessee
