Hellgate:London’s Underground Updates

It looks like things are shaping up a bit for the much beleaguered Hellgate: London. 6 months post release the game finally seems to be reaching stability and the latest Underground Communique from Hellgate’s Community Manager Scapes highlights some of the changes and events surrounding the title.
Included among the news bits of course is the announcement that Hellgate has gone big in Korea, which is not surprising since the Korean launch has benefited from a large infusion of capitol thanks to a Korean investor and 6 months of development time. Many of the launch bugs have been eliminated and the classes are beginning to see their balance adjusted to make the game more enjoyable. Unfortunately from my experience the subscription model still isn’t there but at least the game is finally getting a single player patch to bring it up to the current levels of multiplayer stability. One of the items of note was a progress report on the 1.2 SP patch – which is still in Beta – and the new statistical tracking tool Flagship is using to gather metrics on players called “The Evil Eye”

The collectors version of this game is collecting dust on my shelf. It was very boring, as I made it to the end of the game twice with the same character.
I started to level up a second before I figured that it was too boring, the environments were stale and there wasn’t enough content to hold my interest.
I’ve added this to the list of games that haven’t lived up to the hype such as NeverWinter Nights 2 (which is also collecting dust on my shelf after a mere 30 minutes of dreddful gameplay and increadibly boring module).
