HBO Screening Second Life Documentary

HBO has aquired the screening rights to a documentary filmed entirely within Second Life. The piece entitled Molotov’s Dispatches in Search of the Creator: A Second Life Odyssey profiles Molotov Alava as he journeys through the virtual world studying social interactions.
Veteran director Douglas Gayeton believes the film is deserving of an Academy Award in the short-subject catagory – not that he’s biased or anything.
Second Life MMO allows people to create virtual lives and interact with others worldwide, with the option of spending and making a great deal of real money in the process. With a 9 million member user base to pull from, the documentary may garner some attention. The 35 minute short will air sometime in 2008.
