Halo DS Rumors Squashed

halo ds

The HALO DS rumors have finally been killed thanks to an interview with Brian Jarrard over on Kotaku. Want proof? It is in the interview which I have pulled the following excerpt from:

Kotaku: The whole Halo on the DS rumor just doesn’t want to die, do you see that in the cards?

Brian Jarrard: This rumor has been circulating for a while and as you know we even saw some real life screens and assets this week. Ultimately it’s up to Microsoft to decide if and when they take Halo to a different platform. That particular demo was in fact created and I believe it was an unsolicited pitch a long time ago but nothing ever came of it.

So there ya have it. Nix. Zip. Diddly. Bupkus. Niente.

Thanks: Kotaku

It’s not really debunked, it just means they’re not actively developing it.

  2. used cisco says:

I never thought we would see Halo released on DS, but I definitely see this as confirmation that it existed. Its certainly not a denial of any kind and the videos we’ve seen show a project thats infinitely more advanced than an “unsolicited pitch”. No one ever claimed Bungie made the game, so for him to say they didn’t make it doesn’t really mean much. Its always been said, something along the lines of “Halo for DS was in development at major studio, such that a playable version existed”. That still holds true. I give Cassamassina a lot of crap for some stuff he says/does, but in this case, he needs to get some props for coming through and proving what he claimed.

mannnnnnn put dat on the psp

  4. xx-Thor-xx says:

hahaha that would sell like hotcakes..sprinkled in crack.

  5. weclock says:

halo would suck on the psp.

  6. somewhat says:

No weclock, your mom would. Oops, sorry, I thought I was on XBox Live there for a minute. Care to explain why it would suck on a PSP ? I’m curious, as the PSP is a rather good little system for what it is.

  7. TKO - StefX says:

yeh, PSP is the best handheld system out at the moment. I find that it would actually be pretty fun, what with the PSP’s internet abilities. I curious, however why you think it would suck, so please elaborate.

  8. Jpui says:

    weclock got pwned.

  9. Jpui says:

OH, and hes a DS fanboy btw. (It’s quite obvious).

  10. Flightsim says:

Well, it’s exremely hard to shoot on the PSP, that why all the other shooters on it are horrible. Besides, a 3 hour battery wouldn’t allow you to finish the game. I mean, its a PSP, so it has to be horrible. I have a PS3, 360, Wii, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, GBA SP, DS, and Alienware, but the only system I don’t have (a won’t EVER want) is a PSP. And about the rumors, this is basically the same story as Perfect Dark Zero on Wii, just won’t ever happen, because the developers won’t make money (the publisher gives them money, and Bungie is owned by Microsoft, so they would loose a lot of money for making this).

  11. Phegm says:

OMG, can’t you see that it’s photoshop!!!

  12. kevin says:

Yea, I must agree with Flightsim on the psp halo suck thing. I mean, he has a point with the shooting thing, the only way it would work is if the aiming was done via the joystick, but that eliminates the d pad, and we’d have to use triangle, square, x and circle to move. But then what about jumping? crouching? Switching weapons? It just wouldn’t work at all.

  13. Flightsim says:

No, it wouldn’t work at all.

  14. xx-Thor-xx says:

wait wait wait, have we all forgotten goldeneye on n64? thats how fps’ work on psp. with a little love you could make a good one on the psp.

  15. weclock says:

Hahaha, I just bought a PSP. And they already brought up why it would suck…

unless they somehow turned the x circle square triangle into movement buttons as well…

    and that’s just awkward.

Anyway, so much for being pwned, it looks like the public has got my back on this.

  16. Galduke says:

A PSP Halo would suck, especially if you bring online play into it, which would suck away the battery life like HOT MOSQUITO ON MOSQUITO ACTION! Plus, with God of War using 333 mhz, do you think Bungie would sacrifice quality and performance in favor of battery life? Besides, Halo DS is much more likely since Viva Pinata DS is on the way.

  17. weclock says:

It’s just a crappy reskin of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent.

    what a rip off.

  18. Bullcamp says:

It isnt entirly false guys… i didnt know its such an issue but my bro used to work for the guys who put this thing together. The real thing i dont get is why cant they talk about why it didnt come out?? is that suppose to be a secret? If people told me that id call bull too.

  19. weclock says:

it’s still a Rogue Agent reskin..

  20. TKO - StefX says:

    guys two things:
    1) Microsoft denied that halo 2 would be on PC
Well, then why is there HALO 2 FOR PC in the COMPUTER GAMES AISLE OF MY LOCAL BESTBUY? (lol)

    2) Killzone on PSP is pretty fun, so theoretically, halo could work on psp. like thor said, remember goldeneye on the N64 (my friend still has his, its still fun  ). PSP is a powerful system for its size, and if worst comes to worst, you can buys a spare battery pack (My GBA has 3) and a car adapter for those long road-trips.
:!: plz guys :!: , think through what you wrote so that you dont end up looking like technologically retarded seniors – It’s in your own best interests!

  21. Flightsim says:

I just saw videos of IGN with this in their hands. Of course, though, they said that it wont come out. Search the video yourself.
