Halo 3 Themed Episode of Future Weapons Airing Tonight on the Discovery Channel

By Jonathan on Monday, September 17th, 2007 at 3:12 PM PST In Gamer Life, Halo

I’m not all that into Halo, but now I’m starting to look forward to the game being released. Maybe then all this hype will start to disappear a little bit. Please?

But if you’re not already about to vomit uncontrollably from the persistent Halo 3 hype that continues to fly in from all directions, you might want to tune in to the Discovery Channel’s Halo-themed episode of “Future Weapons” tonight at 8 PM EST. Basically, they’re showing off real-world weapons and technology that are similar to those found in the Halo series. Actually that does sound pretty cool, though I wonder just which weapons they have in store. Somehow though, I doubt the soldiers of the future will be carrying energy swords into battle, but we’ll just have to see.

  2. TRIPLE X says:

Look at the sales its the biggest game in history, not only do most consumers software gaint microsoft is bankin all their money on the game dont come up with that the game isnt anything new, 4 player co-op online, FORGE (if u dont know what this is kill urself), file sharing, saved videos and content, and all the new sweet weapons maps and such. So take ur gaint head and shove it. if u dont like halo 3 keep it to urself dont go lookin for it

I have no problem with it as a video game. Micro$haft is hyping it up, like it’s something bigger than a video game.
It’s nothing more than a video game and a minor annoyance.
I never said ‘it’s nothing new’ or anything.
They want to go around pretending they have the hottest shit in the world. Like playing Halo 3 is going to put money in your bank and fix shit with your girlfriend.

Halo 3 isn’t anything worth this much talk.

  4. weclockloser says:

Notice how this “weclock” is posting worthless comments about how Halo sucks. Note that this is Halo 3 news, so gtfo and go to your little crap console news posts and post there if you will. People like you are just trying to convince other people who like Halo to dislike it, unfortunately; you can’t change people’s opinoin the way you want it too.

And I guess you have been living under a rock or just dead stupid cause if you haven’t notice, people who like the Halo series are tending to purchase the Xbox 360 just for that game if they haven’t already. There are 3 selections to choose from with already 1.2 million preorders. I say get your facts straight and stop hating.

  5. Peter says:

Weclock does have a good point. I mean sure it’s Halo 3 and the marketing campaigns are really hard at work here but in the end it’s just a game. Sure you can excited about it but let’s not all turn into fanboys here, people still have their opinions and it’s important not to disregard all of them.

The game is not out yet so none of you know what you’re defending and have no solid gound to base your words on. Sales don’t make the game. If you overhype the game and put your expectations too high you might end up being disapointed in the final product.

Don’t tell him to not post here because he doesnt agree with you. I recall alot of XBox360 fanboys posting on PS3-only news just to insult the console.

Hey, for all I know Halo 3 could be a really fun game, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a game.
I never said ‘lol, nobody is buying halo 3′ or ‘nobody likes halo 3.’ I just think they shouldn’t be working so hard to promote a video game. Yes, you do have to work hard, but considering how Epic Halo and Halo 2 were, they literally could have done no advertising whatsoever and it’d still be huge.
But it’d be huge as a video game, instead of some super hyped multi-tool that’ll feed your belly, quench your thirst, give you that ‘extra edge’ to kill opponents all over the world, and balance your check book.
What does a video game have to do with a bank?
What does a video game have to do with french fries and soda?
What does a video game have to do with a quality drink?

Yeah, it’ll probably be pretty fun, but why do they have to hype it? People were foaming at the mouth at the mere thought of the game when the 360 came out, they’re beating a dead horse and trying to go after a larger demographic, so that people who would not otherwise notice the video game, will notice.
Which could be a very bad thing (Jack Thompson).

Remember when he was trying to boycott Wendy’s because they promoted the Wii?
Why isn’t he going after Burger King for directly promoting the sale of an M rated game?

I agree with the Halo dissenters regarding the absurd amount of hype surrounding Halo 3. Microsoft (with whom I have no qualms) has launched a largely retarded and laughable “Believe” campaign trying to artificially inseminate an emotional aspect to Halo. Anyone who as played 10 minutes of Halo, either CE or 2, knows that emotion, and even story, takes a backseat to action. The only emotion one feels is either bliss from sticking an Elite or anger from getting sniped on Legendary by some freaking impossible angle by a Jackal you can’t see. Before I get flamed as a “fag” or “homo”, let me say that I am a huge Halo aficionado. I have pre-ordered Halo 3 Collector’s Edition. But, this excessive crap that Microsoft is scoping on top of an already ubiquitously popular game actually diminished the giddy anticipation I have. Back in July, I was so excited about Halo 3, I had trouble sleeping, wondering how I was going to make it 2 more months. I even began questioning if they would ever release a game like this; it had become surreal, ethereal. That was the way I liked it; Halo fans talking to Halo fans about Halo 3. Now Mountain Dew Game Fuel (admittedly I do have), Burger King, Seven Eleven, NASCAR, and Microsoft have essentially destroyed the nervous anticipation once had. Everyone knows something about Halo and because it is mainstream, like every other cliche, it’s starting to suck. Now I find myself wanting the game to come out so people will shut the hell up about the game coming out. This is the unfortunate position Microsoft has put this gamer in. Furthermore, this hype has overshadowed games that definitely should not be missed. I am of course referring to BioShock. Reviewer have been crapping their collective pants about this game,(90% of them give this game a 10/10) and if you have the privilege of getting your hands on it, you should. It is a truly fantastic games. It’s one of those games that can’t be beat or compared with regards to quality. It just ranks among the top games of all time (like Super Mario World or Deus Ex). “Play games and enjoy,” that’s my motto. I’m trying as hard as I can to not allow Microsoft’s “Believe” campaign ruin that for me.

halo, the greatest game ever created finaly completes its trilogy with the epic game halo 3. After completion of the game, i was left with some dissapointment. It was as if they just cut off master chief and thats it. i was expecting some big epic battle over earth, but as we all have played in halo 1, we just ended up driveing into a ship escapeing the flood again. also, the graphics where not what i exspected it to be. i think that more time should have been spent on character construction, because the brutes clearly did not look as good as the surounding enviornment. which brings me to the next item., THERE IS A POSABILTIY OF A HALO 4 ……. ORE SO WILL IT BE CALLED DIFFERENTLY. after beating the holy game, mc goes into cryo statis, and umong completion of the game in legendary, you see the remanets of the dawn crash into a what seems to be a planet with lights all over acompanied with high pitched there might be a halo 4 music. before halo came out, there was the game made by bungie marathon, which takes place in a time period after halo. basicaly the begenning of the game is you are orbiting around this planet with aliens on it . . . in the game there are many similarities to halo like, armo, ai’s, weapon, and symbols . . . . the pilar of autmn has the marathon symbol on it and so dose captain keys .. . . . so if master chief = marathon guy, and you just crashed into the planet onyx which is the marathon planet, we have the sequel to halo, marathon which is for the mac, now for the 360, so technicaly we finished a fight, and now masterchief tripin off cryochamber weed has to go start another one, Halo 4 lets go kill somehing else. so no halo 4 but, a game based on saveing master chiefs ass. plus it would really have been nice to see his face, so maybe you will, in the next game, they want you to wait them cheeky bastards.

plus WECLOCK TO FIXYOUR CHICK POBLEMS, HALOS BEEN PROVEN TO INCREASE WIDTH AND LENGTH BY 3 INCHES SO IF I WHERE YOU ID GET TO SOME SERIOUS PLAYIN. . . IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
