CVG has some good news and some bad news for all you Halo 3 fans out there. First according to the latest issue of EGM there is no Co-op play plan at this time on line. Fans will be able to play side by side or over a LAN , but there is no Xbox LIVE option… yet.
“We’re not dumb,” says Bungie’s Frank O’Conner. “We know that people want it and we’re trying to make it happen. I think the biggest problem for us for online co-op is that we have a situation where you can be in a Warthog with five troops, almost a mile away from the other player. That’s a significant challenge. And there’s lots of design things you could do to prevent that from happening, but they would make it not feel like Halo anymore. If we can make it happen in a way that works well, we will – and if it works badly, we won’t.”
The issue did reveal info on the highly anticipated new weapons, vehicles and equipment for the game. Some thin to look forward to;
New gear includes the Flare (a flashbang) a dual wieldable Brute shotgun dubbed the Mauler, a Gravity Hammer (send vehicles flying, apparently) and a Regenerator (opposite of the power drainer). New Vehicles to look out for include the Prowler, Hornet and Elephant, described as a Jawa Sandcrawler.
Are you getting excited yet? Well here’s another little extra something to keep the anticipation building. Bungie remade the “Lockout” multiplayer map and retitled it “the Guardian” and for the old time Bungie fanatics MS may even have Marathon up on Xbox LIVE Arcade by the time EGM comes out August 11.

no online co-op is a major let-down. I was hoping they would push the envelope… disappointed.
Damn! This means if I want to complete campaign on co-op with my buddy “somewhat”, I will have to drive over to his place and sleep over for a couple of days just like we did for Halo 2. His wife won’t be pleased
. But if you read the article closely, there might still be hope for online co-op. Maybe it will be one of Bungie’s surprises…
”and sleep over for a couple of days just like we did for Halo 2. ”
At least that’s what we told her we were doing in the basement alone for that long of a time with a third ‘buddy’ of ours…
But seriously, all hope is not yet lost…

Here’s wishing for the best…
Ugh… I remember that (3rd guy), did you guys ever recover?
Well, if you ask me, I say they will have it, I’m sure they’ll find a way to have it, now that everyone is freaking out about it…
It will rule. I hope everyone got their Pre-orders. I sure do, but id say there will be enough copies to go around, Its HALO 3. As for the Multiplayer CO-op, thats a let down. I hope they can work it out or even restrict the distance you can be apart to allow it. It would be nice to play Co-op, Its mostly multiplayer is what im looking toward, HALO 3 is ALL GOOD!!!
