Halo 3 Beta – Hype Killer?

It isn’t a bad question to ask: Did Halo 3 Beta kill the hype?
David over at MyArcadePlanet asks the question in an editorial, and I don’t know if you can give a qualified response either way right now. We will have to see, and it’s worth reviewing what the mood was like pre-Halo 2.
There is something to be said about the build-up and momentum anticipation creates around the release of any popular work of art in any medium, and I think the Halo series is coming close to matching that of Star Wars and the likes. The beta release by Bungie may have hindered sales, but then again, enough changes and evolutions of what we’ve already seen may dramatically increase sales, too.
Inevitably, some people will walk away with their expectations met or exceeded, and some people expect miracles.

I know I’m not buying the game. Pretty much because I am no buying a 360 at all. I upgraded my PC to a killer 8800 GTX and 8600 GTS SLI, so all I have to do now is enjoy playing every game at 160 fps with the highestest settings ever, at 1600×1200 or something resolution. Ain’t a PC a real console killer!
Plus, on my 19 inch widescreen, everything so much damn sharper than an HDTV
The Beta didn’t kill the hype, but hopefully it helped some people with extremely high expectations realize that Halo 3 is going to be a good, fun, social game. Not the greatest thing since slice bread.
No it was not a Hype Killer. In fact it hyped it even more for me. After playing the Beta and going back to my current game list(games like Gears of War,Halo 2 and Call of Duty 3) makes me want Halo 3 more then ever.
well it brought all the “man i hope this game is good” down, but half the beta testers ARE worried about graphics but they will get better
I don’t think it killed the hype one bit at all. It probably drew in even more fans to the series. Considering the Beta kept out a lot of features from the real game, we have a lot to look forward to on release day.
Plus, there’s the CAMPAIGN !!! Just about everyone I know who’s played the first 2 ‘chapters’ is dying to see the end to a superb story. And praying to God for almost no cliffhangers to support the next installment. And the campaign graphics will obviously be a cut above multiplayer. So I hope the graphic naysayers can get past that one…
halo sucks, always has, always will, seriously? you ppl think this game is good, and all you ms fanboys run around “killzone 2 trailer is fake” but then turn around and say “man halo 3 trailer looks awesome and its all in game” well i’ll tell ya, i played the beta, and this game sucks balls and ass and cock, holy shit if you like this game you are a fag, i sold my 360 after playing the beta
