Halo 3 AutoUpdate Changes Melee Situations

There’s a new update out for Halo 3 that should automatically download once you log on. Mostly, the update changes the whole melee system and how a winner is decided in the event of a simultaneous clash. I’m not going to call it a “fix,” because they didn’t really correct a problem so much as just altered how the game works (plus I wasn’t exactly up in arms about the old system anyway). Now, if you and an opponent try to melee each other at the same time, you’ll only win if you have a “sizeable health advantage” over the other person. Otherwise, you both die. I guess this does even things up a bit, considering it gives the host less of an advantage. Bungie has posted all the nitty gritty details about how the change works, including specific hit point numbers and why a system of “who hits first, wins” just doesn’t work on their forums, which you can check out through the link below.

I use melee in most of my kills in halo, so I like this change.
I don’t even use melee, cause no one ever gets close enough to me alive. MUAHAHAHAHA!!!! ok, but yes, thank god they changed it, cause it was getting a little annoying.
dude, you’re just jealous cause you suck ass in real life, and you don’t have enough motor skills to be good at anything requiring precision.
I’m glad they are at last trying something. The melee system in Halo 3 has been so wacked out. I was getting tired of having full health, doing a melee on an enemy whose shield was already down and somehow we both die.
