Halcyon Company has obtained the rights to produce two video games based on the works of Phillip K. Dick. The company has the first option on the movie rights for the sci-fi author’s stories.

“Philip’s daughters have never allowed anyone this kind of access before,” commented Victor Kubicek, joint CEO of Halcyon. “Until we closed the deal we didn’t realise how coveted the library was in Hollywood.”

A few of Phillip K. Dick’s novels and short stories have inspired video games. EA published Bladerunner in 1999 and Cryo adapted Ubik in 1998. Movies based off his writings gamers might be familiar with are Ridley Scott’s classic film Bladerunner featuring Harrison Ford and the totally eighties action adaptation of Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The most recent movie made, Through a Scanner Darkly was an animated movie depicting drug culture and drug use. I think that it would be my choice for an adaption to video game as an action adventure FPS fusion.
