The newest trailer to hit my inbox this Saturday is a weird, but amusing little video from the folks at Gamecock Media and Wideload Games for their latest game coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360: Hail to the Chimp. Slated to hit stores in Spring 2008, Hail to the Chimp is a party game, where, well…. let me just let the wacky, but fun guys over at Gamecock Media tell you about the game.
Since the dawn of time, Man has wondered who would win if a polar bear and jellyfish teamed up to fight an armadillo and yak. Do you have what it takes (approximately $50) to learn the shocking truth?
When the King of the Animals is forced to resign in disgrace, a motley group of candidates turns out for a bare-knuckle campaign to win the Crown. From Ptolemy, the mighty hippo, to Crackers, the devious monkey, each of the ten candidates has distinct strengths and strategies, but the same hunger for political power.
Hail to the Chimp is a party game that delivers exciting gameplay, lush interactive environments, and a comic look at politics. Players use the game’s unique team-up mechanic, mixing cooperation with competition, to claw their way to victory.
Whether played by four friends on one TV, online against distant challengers or single-player against advanced AI, Hail to the Chimp offers endlessly replayable party fun for gamers of all stripes.
See, they explained it much better than I ever could. The video for the game posted above, is basically a funny little “news report” which brings to mind a strange little movie I watched once called Animalympics. I don’t know why it reminded me of a 17-year old animated film about animals having their own Olympic Games, it just did – oh well maybe I am just old or something. Anyway…. one of the things that made me laugh, and has to be my favorite line from the trailer is “It’s always mating season somewhere” – you just don’t know how true that is, especially when you work with animals on a daily basis like I do.
If you want to check out more zany humor regarding Hail to the Chimp, I HIGHLY suggest you visit the official website for the game, and if you are inclined to do so – check out Gamecock’s page on the game as well. Nothing like some “jackassery” to round out your Saturday afternoon.
