Awhile back, I renewed my membership at a nearby gym and signed up for some sessions with a personal trainer while I was at it. I remember thinking it seemed ridiculous to pay $50 for a 30-minute session, but I soon realized that the trainer was determined to earn each and every cent through my pain and sweat. Back then, I was actually going to the gym 3-4 times a week for two hours each, and I still wouldn’t be able to move all day after just half an hour with my trainer. So understand that when I hear a Manhattan gym is charging $110 for a single session that involves playing Wii Sports, I can already smell the pungent stink of a ripoff.

But that’s exactly what’s happening over at the Gravity Gym. A human trainer is involved in the sessions,  where participants play tennis, golf, boxing and dodge ball during the course of a traditional exercise session. The executive director of the facility believes that gym goers already do exercises in front of a television, so this is simply the next step. Seriously though, if you’re planning on going to two of these sessions, you might as well buy your own Wii console instead. Unless they’re strapping a 20 lb weight to the Wii-mote or having you do pilates while trying to box, you’re not going to get a great workout.

wow 50 bucks for an hour? I pay 125 for a month and I can come and go as I damn well please. It doesn’t involve any personal trainer, but really .. Who needs em?

In Nevada you can buy a prostitute legally for that much. I’d bet she’d even play Wii with you if you wanted.
