Activision keeps bringing on the fun. It has released a list of 17 new tracks for upcoming Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock bringing the total up to 59. I’m a little confused by the inclusion of Devil Went Down to Georgia, but overall this list rocks.

The new tracks are:

  1. Same Old Song and Dance (by Aerosmith)
  2. Helicopter (by Bloc Party)
  3. Stricken (by Disturbed)
  4. Monsters (by Matchbook Romance)
  5. Before I Forget (by Slipknot)
  6. Kool Thing (by Sonic Youth)
  7. When You Were Young (by The Killers)
  8. Devil Went Down to Georgia (as made famous by Charlie Daniels Band)
  9. Sunshine of Your Love (as made famous by Cream)
  10. Holiday in Cambodia (as made famous by Dead Kennedys)
  11. Cliffs of Dover (as made famous by Eric Johnson)
  12. Hit Me with Your Best Shot (as made famous by Pat Benetar)
  13. Black Magic Woman (as made famous by Santana)
  14. Story of My Life (as made famous by Social Distortion)
  15. Pride and Joy (as made famous by Stevie Ray Vaughn)
  16. The Seeker (as made famous by The Who)
  17. Black Sunshine (as made famous by White Zombie)

Guitar Hero III will feature wireless controls and online competitive and cooperative play. GHIII is due out October 28 in North America.

    i might get this one.

  2. Stephany says:

Why does every one always choose Pride and Joy by SRV to play on the radio, use in commercials, include in compilation CDs, put into video games. That is by far NOT his best song - it may be the most commercial, but that is it. What about, Cold Shot, Tin Pan Alley, Change It, or his rendition of Hendrix’s Little Wing or Voodoo Chile? I loathe Pride and Joy. Every cover band alive out there plays it. Blech.

  3. Ron Whitaker says:

All I can say is this:

The Seeker + Cliffs of Dover = Chock full of WIN.

Cliffs of Dover on Expert will be insanely difficult. I remember watching Eric Johnson play that live.

  4. LaChandra says:

I’m not a rocker at all so most of these songs I don’t know the name of but know them when I hear them. I would love to play Hit Me With Your Best Shot though. “Fire Awaaaaaaaaaaay, Hey hey!

    I know, I’m lame.

  5. Stephany says:

No your not LaChandra. What woman doesn’t like Pat Benetar? She rocks.

  6. Lyght says:

Still needs “Gut Feeling” or “Uncontrollable Urge” by Devo.

  7. TapeMan says:

The inclusion of Devil Went Down to Georgia is AWESOME! There is no question that this song will increase the awesomeness of GH3 tenfold. (Next… dueling banjos on GH4)

  8. Le Mike says:

Ooooooh boy. The Disturbed song could have been much worse, down with the sickness anyone? But for the love of god, I’m not buying this game now, nor will I any game with Slipknot in it.

  9. Spoonerboy says:

Meh, I wish they would have picked better Disturbed and Slipknot songs, they had a choice obviously…
But at least it’s in there.

I really am getting sick and tired of Guitar Hero having so much butt-rock and oldies.

The real talent nowadays lies in death metal and speed metal, not My Chemical Romance.
    Why?!
Oh well, not all people can be as wise as I would have been.
If you look at GH 2,
EVERYONE LOVES SIX BY ALL THAT REMAINS,
    and
THE LIGHT THAT BLINDS BY SHADOWS FALL.

They are harder, more intricate and challenging.
They are the best songs in the game,
I don’t care how popular Freebird was when it came out, it’s not popular now, and Video Games are very NOW, not the 70’s.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Freebird, but more new rock and less butt rock would really make Guitar Hero the game it wants to be.

    malditos musulmanes

  11. 2 awesome says:

    I LOVE PAT BENETAR!!!
she is so much fun “my clone sleeps alone”

And also new rock is garbage…
    Lets see more oldies!
good job with foghat and the who and the stones but maybe some of the allman brothers band or lynyrd skynyrd… Ramblin’ man or Sweet home Alabama anyone

Just what I had to say

  12. Stephany,

You have just stated the crux of our entire society. People love to be told what they like as most can not figure it out alone. And as a result, if you want to sell something you put in what people are most familiar with.

However, to your point it might be interesting for Activision to release a version or update that only had tracks rarely heard, but undeniably great. Maybe even a fan’s choice version featuring a series of preselected tracks which users vote on.

  13. Larry Gasik says:

Great.. another reason for my hands to hurt. I don’t know why I do it - I just do… Guitar Hero is worth it.

  14. Shelvey says:

    Holiday in Cambodia?
Well, so long as it isn’t a bad a cover as they did with Police Truck, I’m ecstatic.

  15. Brian says:

This game needs some freakin’ Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler is the greatest guitarist of all time.

  16. Big Daddy Sexy Cool says:

What The Guitar Hero Needs is a something that goes BOOM…. say…

Long Stick Goes Boom?! [Yes. KROKUS] [and Ballroom Blitz doesn't count]

It’ll be a cold day in hell when they rock out with some Cannibal Corpse, Aeon, Morbid Angel or Exodus in GH, but hey… tonight, Long Stick Goes Boom.
