Guitar Hero III – Les Paul Wireless Prototype Revealed

RedOctane is the first 3rd Party to make a wireless controller for the Xbox 360, and the 360’s Les Paul controller will be basically the same as the one being made for the PS3 and Wii. Pricing, bundle information and release date have yet to be announced, but the 360 prototype looks pretty sweet – yet anything carrying the exalted name of Les Paul is going to be divine.

This new wireless axe for Guitar Hero III and your old wireless one for Guitar Hero II will be interchangeable – so there is no need to worry about purchasing a wireless unless you want a little more freedom. The buttons have been changed a bit and resemble the PS2 controller; the buttons for start, back/select have returned to the controller so that users who prefer those options are appeased as well as newbies. The start button is much larger than before so that pausing the game is now easier and less frustrating. Speaking of frustrating, the d-pad and 360 button have been moved to the side so that they will not be hit during exciting riff action. The neck is removable with a spring-loaded switch for easier storage and the possibility of specialty necks. The faceplate is also removable, and RedOctane should have a variety readily available when the controller hits retail stores. No mention on pedal attachments has been made, but there is a jack next to the headset plug, so there are going to be uses for this – but those are being kept secret at this time. The feel and shape of the guitar should conform to gamers easier than previous models, making it a more comfortable fit – just like a Les Paul. As mentioned earlier, pricing has not been discussed with media outlets or retailers, but you can bet that this controller is going to cost more than real guitar made by Harmony at Sears.
