If Guitar Hero III isn’t going to provide enough virtual rocking action for you in the coming months, RedOctane has released a bundle pack including Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2, only for the PlayStation 2. That’s more than 100 songs between the two games.

The asking price is a bit high at $60, but considering you get the number of songs that you do, it is a pretty good deal. It’s now available in stores, but have you really already tired of Guitar Hero III?

I’m a bit jealous that there isn’t something similar for the Xbox 360, but at least 360 and PS3 get downloadable content.

I’ve been waiting, for a bundle like this, to come into my life.

$60 for both isn’t bad at all. In fact, I still find GH2 the best buy of the franchise (GH3 inclusive).

Getting GH2 for the 360 (especially with that crappy Xplorer controller) and having the option of buying half of GH1 via DLC IS highway robbery. The only advantage 360 has over PS2 is widescreen support and a slight graphical upgrade. In my experience, the WS support is more advantageous than higher resolution textures. With that said, the game and experience is EXACTLY the same.

I don’t know about you, but I spend about 2% of the time paying attention to the graphics on these GH games. Graphics, to me, are the least important thing in these musical timing games (so far).

Having played GH3 exhaustively now, if I were a PS2 owner and didn’t already own any of these games, I’d get this bundle over Guitar Hero III. At this point, it’s almost a no brainer.

Not only that, but I’d also recommend getting the Red Octane wireless guitar here:

It’s the best purchasable controller made to date. If they had it for 360, I’d dump this GH3 Les Paul in a heartbeat for it. The Les Paul (haven’t tried the PS2 GH3 Kramer) is the 2nd best controller so far.

Haven’t tried the Rock Band controller, but many GH veterans in the Rock Band forums who have tried it lately are saying it’s flimsy and not as nice as the Les Paul controller out now.

What’s so bad about the X-plorer? I haven’t tried the others.

  4. Joey says:

Does anyone know of a controller (guitar) that works on both the PS2 and PS3?

I have a PS2 and my friend has a PS3. I’d like to be able to practice at home with Guitar Hero I/II but still be able to jam out to Legends of Rock t my buddy’s place.

Anyone else has tried this on PS3?!?! I bought it today and keep having an “an autosave” error dialog box!!! still haven’t been able to play it because I don’t have a damn controller to work with these games!
