gwpe Guild Wars Platinum EditionIn honor of the first true expansion for Guild Wars: Eye of the North, ArenaNet is offering Guild Wars Platinum Edition. The pack contains both the original Guild Wars game and Guild Wars: Eye of the North.

What makes Guild Wars so great? The games offer a compelling storyline, customizable characters playable as PvP or RP and a stunning world to explore. Players can participate in free global competitions with real world prizes.

Many MMOs can make similar offers, but Guild Wars has a few more key features that make it stand out in the crowd. You can change servers at will which makes meeting up with old friends and making new ones a breeze. The map travel system is quick and painless, so once you’ve visited a place; you can travel there again without a long wait or travel expenses. Also all your missions are instanced so there is never any loot stealing or spawn camping. Finally, once you’ve purchased the game, there are no monthly fees – ever.

I have preordered Eye Of the North. I think that perhaps the platinum edition should have been a collection of all the campaigns and expansions rather than just Prophecies and Eye Of the North.

I agree it would have been nice to see Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North in one package, but I can imagine that would have been expensive. Seeing as how the original campaigns are still $30, $40, and $50 respectively, even marking that down could of cost a pretty penny. Perhaps they should have released two? Or better yet, make use of the possibility of their online store, make it customizable… “oh I would like this campaign and the expansion or I want the original Prophecies and Nightfall and the expansion” etc..

Either way, I am pretty excited about Eye of the North, Guild Wars has kept me addicted since the day it came out and I have loved every minute of it! Yay ArenaNet!
