The first expansion to Guild Wars has officially gone live today with the release of Eye of the North. The previous releases were all standalone games that interconnected with one another, whereas Eye of the North requires that you own one of those three standalone campaigns. Eye of the North is a bride of sorts between Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, allowing for players to take achievements they’ve earned with them into Guild Wars 2 upon its release. Using the Hall of Monuments, you’ll be able to transfer armor sets, pets, Heroes, and titles.
This is the first Guild Wars release built with experienced players in mind, as a level 20 character is required to gain access into the new areas. These areas expand upon Tyria, the continent explored in the first Guild Wars title, Prophecies.
I’ve been a huge fan of Guild Wars since it was first released back in May 2005. To offer an MMO-like experience that doesn’t require you to invest hundreds of hours into to enjoy all aspects of the game is great in its own right. The fact that there’s no monthly fee is just gravy.

I preordered this and its coming tommorow, it is great and actually provides high level , end game content. Factions was the only Campaign which gave good high level content but unfortunately the storyline wasn’t good. The eye of the north storyline looks good from what I saw in the sneak peak weekend.
