Well the people that torrented it are stupid , because if sales for games do bad that means no sequel. Dont think sales for grand theft auto will be bad but for games in general. I will admit I have torrented games before but I have only torrented games that I cant find to buy any more I never torrent new games. I like to support the people that put together the games.

If people are willing to pirate a console GTAIV in such large numbers, then I shudder to think what will happen if/when the PC version comes out, what will happen to it? Will Rockstar even CONSIDER making a GTAIV PC port now?

Even if I could, much less wanted, to pirate GTA4, I simply can not do that right now with finals and all happening next week. Thankfully GTA4’s release timing is nearly perfect since my last final is April 30th. I shudder to think what my situation would be if GTA4 had been released earlier.

I am honest enough to say, i would download the game NOW and play it half an hour after the download is finished if there wouldn´t be the best copy-protection in the world: The Fear Of RROD – especially in this case !
I would still buy the game the day it is released (unless it sucks, but i doubt that). Now i can´t really visit any game forums because i would be spoilered to death.
And i wish MS and Rockstar would make it easier for me to preorder the game. I live in germany – but i want the english version. Can anybody tell me if the german game version includes the english soundtrack ? Nope. No retailer, no MS guy, not even the nice guys from Rockstar (yeah, i spend time asking them).
I would love to have this weekend to play the game (releasing on a monday is MEAN!!).
Why i don´t simply preorder the UK version ? Because it is more expensive (shipping), and dvdboxoffice (which would be cheapest) lists the (us version of the) game as Region 1 US. Now i wait until the release, check out the forums and then buy the game where i get an english version.
I need to get a PS3 and this problem would be done with (they can always be imported). This is a time i am frustrated with my 360 (okay, i love it most of the time ).
Still i fell a bit with the guys at Rockstar, i doubt that many of the downloaders will be buying the game now ( not being able to go online with a copy is a myth i think, i don´t think they have a safe system to verify if a game is a copy). Still i guess lots of modded console owners will suffer these days, a game like GTA is just the perfect candidate to overheat a console and make it RED. Still, it gets the bad guys the same as the (not so bad) guys that just want to play early.

Do note that most pirates just torrent games to take them for a “test drive.” I’ve bought 50% of the games I’ve torrented. They’re really more like demos, since you’re missing so many features with the torrent because you can’t get online and such.

ya anyone that has this pirated will be stupid to sign in to xbox live or use their account online, u know money soft always shuts them down. but yes piracy will always be here, movies, music, games, its all good for those that want it. as for Xbox live its just to valuable to loose that. thats why id never mod my 360, as for other consoles. no comment

People that complain about piracy must not be able to get the games they want for free. Funny thing is i bet they pirate the sh*t out of music. Don’t complain about something your just jealous you can’t do your self. Yeah this means that if ya want this game you will have to successfully mod you x360 via dvd-rom hack. I love this stuff i remember when people like you guys where waiting in lines when halo 2 dropped and i had it 2 months before it came out neener neener.

how about a little clarification…this is a Rockstar/Microsoft problem. No one is pirating PS3 copies of GTAIV. I don’t know why this story hasn’t been corrected. People who play on Microsoft’s console are the real pirates here.

hekynn piracy will never go away its just a fact of life, the game industry suffers approx 80% loss in sales due to piracy, the only methods of stopping it are digital distibution (steam way) or limited use of the game (bioshock way, install 3 times only on up to 5 computers)

They are only tracked if their ps3 or xbox 360 is online with the game on, gamers who dont have internet access on their consoles could play it for free now
