Well, you can look for GTA fans to be opening up their wallets again. Rockstar has announced a brand-new Grand Theft Auto IV special edition. Priced at an economical $89.99, and packaged in a swanky customized Grand Theft Auto metal safety deposit box, the Special Edition is planned to launch at the same time as the PS3/XBox 360 versions of the game, which are slated for October 16 (North America) and October 19 (Europe).
What does your $89.99 buy you? Let’s take a look….
So, your safety deposit box comes complete with….
- Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system or the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, both with special packaging
- The Grand Theft Auto IV Art Book, featuring never-before-seen production artwork from Grand Theft Auto IV
- Selected soundtrack CD from Grand Theft Auto IV, featuring new material from top artists, only available on this release
- An exclusive Rockstar keychain for the safety deposit box keys
- A limited edition Rockstar duffel bag
Says Take-Two….”All of the items have been created with the utmost attention to detail to create a unique Grand Theft Auto IV experience for any fan of the series. The Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition is available for pre-orders today and will retail for $89.99 in North America.”
What is with the enormous influx of these collector’s edition releases, anyway? I mean, every game anymore has a collector’s edition. Let’s see, an art book, because I need something for the kids to read, a soundtrack CD to entertain my parents, and a keychain!! Oh, and I can fit it all in my duffel bag!
Seriously, at some point we, as gamers, need to stand up and stop buying this garbage. Until we do, people will keep pumping this crap out at some ridiculous price.
