GTA IV DLC Will Be How Big !?

Microsoft has been touting the fact that the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV will include exclusive downloadable content (which they paid handsomely for). But we still haven’t gotten any specific details on just what that content will consist of. Well it seems an upcoming CVG magazine special contains a passage that explains with just how big the new DLC is expected to be. To summarize: it’s not just big, it’s freakin’ huge! The passage explains:
“Of course, to call games as vastly ambitious as Vice City or San Andreas mere ‘expansion packs’ seems childish, but nevertheless, the downloadable content (DLC) coming for the Xbox 360 version of IV has repositioned those games in just this way. DLC so far has meant the odd new car, jumper of bit of horse armour, but GTA IV is set to completely redefine the idea with expansions that are to GTA IV what Vice City or San Andreas were GTA III. Yes, Rockstar is clearly hinting at new downloadable cities; and the chances of them being London, Vice City or SA again are slim to none. So that’s new as in brand new. GTA IV’s Liberty City is the beginning. Think about that and be excited.”
That’s right. They’re saying the DLC will include whole new cities that will be comparable to the entire scope of the past games. Of course, this could all just be some incredible exagerration — the magazine is put largely sponsored by Microsoft, after all — but I’m hoping this rumor turns out to be true.

Are You Serious The PS3 Sucks Ass. They Failed Really Bad With there games and there network.Yeah You Have to paya for xbox live but it the best online play that You Can Get For Your Money.Everything that xbox live is doing the ps3network is copying. You Playstation Fans Wasted 500 bucks just 2 watch blu ray movies. I spent $350 on xbox360 to play great games,xbox live,downloadable tv shows,anime,movies and great content that xboxlive has. the only way a ps3 game “lasts 4 hours” is if you include the time it takes to drive to the store, buy it and drive back home.

Before you scoff, hear me out….
Advantages of having a kid-safe mode:
(1) More than doubles the number of buyers. How many parents won’t buy this because of inappropriate content? Short answer… alot. Certainly enough to pay for the “added production costs” at least 10 times over.
(2) Gets certain political parties off your case. Why not spin a little positive self image? It can’t hurt.
(3) Would be EASY to do. Look at GTA3:SA and GTA:VC. Using user-created editors, its not all that hard to do (at least for most things).
(4) The kid-safe mode is a menu setting so hardcore games would be totally unaffected.
These are what I would like to see in a kid-friendly version:
– Free roam, no missions (or maybe kid-safe missions? that would be significantly more work which I am not asking for)
– No weapons. (hey, its supposed to be kid friendly!)
– No prostitutes, drugs, sex-clubs, sex-stores, inappropriate billboards, etc
– Dialog without curse words and inappropriate inuendos. (Remember, the producers have a script so this would be easy to read through and mark them)
– People can be struck by cars, but after a few seconds get up and run away
– No parent-password. Lame idea. Let the parents parent!
Sound boring to you? Yeah, not like the “real” thing, but I know my daughters enjoy my edited-to-be-kid-safe GTA3:SA and will play it for hours. Even I myself enjoy a good romp through the city doing crazy jumps and stunts.
Rockstar, you do this and I’ll buy 2 copies! Otherwise… you gotta count me out no matter how great it is.

Am I the only person who thinks a Console war should be completely about the capability of the console and not the games? Games can be ported to another console, and are the decision of the game companies. With ps3 sales increasing, game developers are getting more comfortable with it. So from a hardware capability point, the ps3 blows the others out of the water. From a Live VS PSN stand point, Live wins… for now. Home has the potential to drastically improve the quality of the PSN and pretty much destroy live.(as an integrated part of the playstation network) I don’t hate any of the consoles, they all have positives and negatives about them. The Wii is for nonsensical fun, the xbox360 currently has a nice library, the ps3 has the potential for insane graphics. On the negatives, the wii has poor graphics and is stuck in last generation graphical quality. The 360 has had absolutely horrible hardware quality that results in way to many failures. The ps3 needs a lot more games, especially more exclusives like Final Fantasy 13
Oh, by the way. People bitching about downloadable cities… that’s speculation. The author is pointing out a magazine article that’s guessing about what could be in the DLC. Neither Microsoft or Rockstar has said anything about getting new cities. The magazine says Rockstar is Hinting at something… uh huh… and every hint you’ve ever gotten has been dead on to what you thought it was? The most I’d expect is new cars, missions, characters, maybe a weapon or two, with a possibility of adding a smaller section to the city that has an active part in the new missions.
i agree with “billy bob” here, this article is pure speculation at most, there will be downloadble episodes for sure for 360 for hang-mans noose, but from news ive been reading off realible sources (gamestop, ign) ) PS3 say there will be “some type of content” which is annoying as there is no sure fire answer.

PS3 is for graphics and big games (and thats if the developers are brave enough to code it)
360 is for the good amount of games to choose from and the online play
Wii is mostly for family & kids
The 360 i have at the moment works fine, i have an elite and have had it for almost half a year no glitches or rrod (touch wood) and its much quieter than its latter versions (the white consoles)
My bro owns a PS3 and i love it and loathe it, the online play is frankly poo and could be miles better, but you cant complain at something you get for free.
But the amount of levels in a game on the ps3 are great i played through heavenly sword and it was the best game ive played in a long time (it was the first game that actually satisified my appitite, it was as challenging as Ninja gaiden). i would put it up with the greats of halo and GOW, the console has great potential just not enough people brave enough to make games for it.
PS3 Home could break live, but to me it looks likes a complete copy of second life and i dont want to spend money on virtual furniture, i already have a hard time accepting the nickle and diming on xbox live, buying gamerpics saaaaaaaaaaddd.
But it certainly would be kickass to not just have achievements to brag about… but have the trophy over your virtual fire place lol

I hope you all know how retarded your being? The exclusive DLC will just be new mission, few new items ETC. This is just an marketing ploy by M$ to get more people to think “OMGZ Teh 360 get whole new citys!” so they will buy the 360 version, even if Rockstar did mention soemthing about future DLC being this big, this particular article is just another way M$ is trying to get more GTA4 sales on the 360.

I own both and have had the 360 replaced 4 times….the ps3 hasn’t failed once. It has nothing to do with how you take care of it…it has everything to do with the units are pieces of crap.
Sure the 360 and Live is better than the ps3 at almost every turn (except hardware) but who cares when you have to own more than 1 of them in order to play everyday….I still own 2 of them and they sit in a box….when something good comes out like fable2 I’ll look at playing them again…until I’ll use the crappy interface of the ps3 and there somewhat crappy playstation network….it is free so I can’t complain…oh and it works everytime!
It will be interesting to see what the DLC for this game really is….from the looks of other games…the 360 will probably have way more than the ps3.

… Dude, Video games are a good thing. They allow us to rid ourselves of the stress that builds up at work or in our personal lives. I’d rather be the guy who’s pissed off and shooting people in a first person shooter or running people over in GTA that the fuck nut who beats his girlfriend and shoots a police officer. Then there’s highly Immersive RPG’s that pull us into a story that’s way better than just watching a movie or reading a book, an active role in the plot. Look at Japan, they make most of the good video games and there crime rates are amazingly small compared to most other countries.

I think Matt is just one of the unlucky people in this world that have had to replace there 360 too many times, if youre still buying or replacing the core system with another dont bother cause it will rrod or the cd drive will eventually go poo and not read disc properly.
All my friends own a 360 and most of them had a core and it rrod and they had to deal with MS crappy service.
So my friend finally bought an elite and has no problems just as the same as me, seriously buy and elite dont fall for the price drop on the crappy latter versions.
The extra fans and heatsinks and new processor do work, if you were idiotic enough to keep your 360 in a glass case then shame on you any console will over heat and rrod in that environment.
I also happen to own a Ps3-360- and a Wii and i can honestly tell you that I dont play my PS3 that much anymore
Now that theyve released the new processors, the 360 runs almost as quite as the PS3 does and there arent any RROD problems anymore either

Xbox 360 would be great if it wasn’t going to be obsolete in 3 years. DVD9? Developers had a hard time fitting MGS4 on a Blu-ray (had to cut things out), so good luck having any halfway decent games that don’t span over 5 discs.
I dont know how anyone can even defend the xbox.. Right keep saying its great. the FACT is that if it wasnt for the xbox we wouldnt need DLC. GTA IV was suppose to be MUCH large but due to the limitations of the dual layer dvds xbox uses they had to cut the game down. xbox is at its life end, the ps3’s blue ray disks can support large, more detailed games when the xbox simply cant. GTA 4 is WIKID on ps3 or xbox i think it is out of order that DLC will be xbox only, it actually just shows how you are all controlled by large multi billion dollar companies. In the end it is only a game..
It was rated 10 on IGN and I think it will stand up to its potential as long as they fix the lockup issue

Taking your time to download and install them is not worth it when all you’re getting is more building clones, and new “cars.”

Also, I have the PS3 version of the game, and that place is HUGE. I don’t see how ANYONE will be able to explore that whole city. If you have time to do that, you must know your city (or suburban little town) VERY well.
I’ve done about 40 missions and I’m still at 30 percent.

Yeah I know what there about infact who ever reads this is one lucky son of a *****. New city is going to be a village where Niko was born and where you will kill the guy that Niko “owns” money to. GTA5 is going to be in Vice City with a Retire Soldier who all his friends and his girlfriend left him and he cant find a job (plus he was very well trained to kill) as the main character (this soldier was a pilot) Witch allows R* to make planes.By the way the new Vice City will be triple the bigger then LBC. How do I know this? Lets just say a stupid % of R* was bought by another company and fired BUNCH of people.Well GTA6 will be about SA and as you can imagine 7 times bigger than LBC.
When you think about it, the only possibility for the DLC is an entirely new city. If it was just some extra missions carrying on from the story it wouldnt really work because the ending to GTA IV is different depending on your choices. So it would have to be an entirely new story in a new city. OR possibly the DLC will just bring some new safehouses and businesses that you can buy where you have to do missions for them, just like in vice city.
I’ve had my Xbox-360 for 3 years and it has not once failed on me. So the people having to buy like 3 new ones must be doing something wrong. I don’t care how much the new DLC will cost I’m still getting it. I think it would be cool if they released the cities. Or add some stuff they had in GTA:SA like customizable cars/bikes and more clothes.

Salsal, what’s your point? MGS 4 is comparable to Fable 2. Even the developers said it would take years to fit it onto a PS3 because of it’s limitations. The PS3 may have blu-ray, but it can’t utilize the system at all because of it’s limited system.

Oblivion Has Done It Before But They Have Retail Disk In Which You Can Actually Buy From A Retail Store. A Downloadable Expansion Might Not Have The Strength To Go As Far As That. There Where Confirmed Achievements That Has Been Added And I Believe New Vehicles As Well. When I heard ‘whole new cities’, I made a little squeaking noise in my throat instead of words. That’s how awesome this is. Maybe the DLC will be set before GTA:IV, in Niko’s home country. Immigrant smuggling missions, warfare, crazy Russians. Or maybe some Asian city like Tokyo or Kyoto (anyone ever noticed that those two are anagrams of eachother?). Or maybe a city like San Vanelona in Skate., a city made out of a bunch combined.
