Grogger Shows Getting Smashed Gets you Smashed

The Melbourne City Council is educating citizens on alcohol abuse with its edutainment title, Gogger – Don’t Get Smashed. The game teaches pedestrians that Walking Under the Influence can get you just as smashed as DUI. According to news.com.au, WUI is rampant in Melbourne with 70% of accidents resulting in injuries.
Yes, Grogger is a play on Konami’s classic Frogger platformer. Players guide a little person through traffic to the other side of the road safely. Bottled water helps the avatar move faster while getting smashed drinking beer slows your reflexes, raising the likelihood of your little person becoming roadkill.
Grogger can be found in several “live sites” throughout the city for the public to play. Melbourne is also throwing a competition in Federation Square on December 19th.
Although I think Grogger might not be as effective as Ontario’s DUI driving simulator with “beer goggles,” it’s much more accessible. Anyone with an Internet connection can play this flash game at the City of Melbourne’s Grogger website.
